Fellow commuters unite.

Being a commuter can definitely be difficult sometimes but it is all worth it! Whether it be trying to find somewhere to hang out in between classes or finding a parking spot we make it work. Us commuters need to stick together!

1. You'll Find Us in the Library

The library is our safe haven, which is ultimately beneficial because sitting in the library is motivation to get our work done instead of procrastinate. In between classes we often migrate towards the library.

2. Hoping Someone Swipes you into the Cafe

When a friend swipes you into the cafeteria it is a sign of true friendship. As a commuter the amount of money spent on food adds up very quickly. On average I personally spend up to 40 dollars a week on food. So shout out to all the residents that swipe the commuters in, you are the real MVP.

3. Finding a Parking Spot is Horrible

There is no sugar coating this, parking on the campus is the worst. We often have to leave 15 minutes earlier just to get a parking spot. Or vise versa when we are able to find a parking spot that is close to our class we question, “Why was this so easy today?” “Is class cancelled and I don’t know about it?” Not to mention the amount of times you go to your car to grab something and another fellow commuter thinks you are leaving so they wait patiently for you to move your car but really you just want a granola bar.

4. Forgetting Class Materials is Heart Breaking

We cannot just skip up to our rooms to grab that history text book we need for today's class. We have to drive all the way home and then back to campus again. This is why organization is key in our lives. Our car also looks like a giant locker.

5. Motivation to Come Back to Campus is Lacking

If we come back to campus after being home that is dedication. Driving back to campus when after we come home is difficult at times for us because we want to socialize yet we will still have to drive home after.

6. No Better Feeling than Going Home at the End of the Day

Nothing, I repeat nothing, is better then sleeping in your own bed. Another perk is having our own bathroom and space to ourselves. In reality we have it pretty good, we getting an education while getting to stay at home. What could be better? Home cooked meals beat the cafeteria food any day. There truly is no place like home!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
