Having long hair always seems to be such an easy thing to live with. Lots of people assume that you brush it, maybe style it, then go about your day. But those with loads of hair can assure you that's surely not the case. Long hair is like having a dog- it needs to be groomed and cared for, otherwise you're gonna have a bad time.

1. Styling takes forever.

When it comes to having long hair, the styling process can take a while. Depending if you wash it or not, there are a lot of things to do in order to achieve the hairstyle you want. It'll need to be blow-dried, brushed, curled, straightened, twisted, pinned, tied, or whatever else may need to be done.

2. People wanting to touch it.

For some reason, having long hair often gives others the desire to touch it in some way. Depending on how well you know the person, they might ask to feel it, or they might ask to do some sort of hairstyle. In some cases, they might not ask at all and just nonchalantly touch your hair instead.

3. Getting stuck in things.

I can tell you from personal experience, having long hair means it can get stuck in a thing or two. It can get stuck in the backs of chairs at school, it can get stuck in car doors, it can get caught in buttons and zippers, and just about anything you can think of. (Side story; the last concert that I went to I refused to wear my hair up. It ended up getting stuck in some girl's phone case by the time the second opening band has began performing.)

4. Getting in the way.

If you plan on wearing your hair down on a busy day, chances are it'll get in the way from time to time. If you lean over or bend down to pick something up, your hair will end up swarming your vision, and Constantly looking around and moving your head can cause your hair to fall into your face.

5. Dead or split ends.

Long hair can be both a hassle, and an opportunity to style in anyway you can think of. But after constantly being curled or straightened, it'll become damaged. Without using the proper products to help keep your hair healthy, it'll end up with dead or split ends. But hey, at least you can continue to style and straighten so they don't look as dead as they actually are.

6. Getting tangled. Constantly.

Probably one of the biggest struggles of having long hair is having it become a tangled mess. Brushing it can take forever until all the knots are finally out, but they'll quickly return in a matter of minutes to seconds. Windy and rainy days can quickly turn your hair into a giant bird's nest.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
