"We must take adventures in order to know where we truly belong." -Unknown
Being connected to nature is something so beautiful. I love going on hikes, playing in the creek, and laying in my Eno. Becoming outdoorsy is easier than you think, take it from me. When you get out there and notice all of the beauty around you, you will see life in a whole new way.
1. Do Not be Afraid to Get a Little Dirty.
With every outdoor adventure expect a little dirt or mud. I promise it won't hurt you. Stains come out, mud washes off, and yes that smell is probably you. I am actually very girly, the kind of gal you would never expect to find in the woods. A few years ago I was terrified that my makeup would get ruined, I would break a nail, or get my favorite shoes dirty.
2. Bring Bug Spray.
Whether you are camping, hiking, and just sitting outside: watch out; those critters DO bite. A little bug repellant should keep the bugs away. So don't worry too much. An adventure is never truly complete if you don't come back with at least 15 mosquito bites.
3. Find a Place You Enjoy.
I live in Clarksville, TN and one of my favorite places to go is Rotary Park. I love to walk in the creek, and the trails are absolutely beautiful. There are so many local places you can visit here that are so awesome, you just have to do a little exploring.
4. Do Something You Love.
While you sit outside to enjoy the day, or while you hike the trails for a little exercise, multitask and do something else you like. This will help make your experience a little better. When I walk, I like to blast my favorite tunes in my headphones. When I sit in my Eno, I love to read or write in my journal. You can get a lot of inspiration from the great outdoors.
5. Document Your Trip.
When I am out for awhile, sometimes I am lucky enough to catch one of God's beautiful sunsets. I never hesitate to pull out my phone to snap a picture. Some of my favorite pictures I take are photos of this beautiful earth.
6. Take Some YOU Time.
When you are outside soaking up this beautiful Earth, take some time to think. Think about your day, the ups and the downs. Think about your upcoming weeks or reminisce on some good, old memories. Take some time to catch up with God. Take some time to clear your mind. Think, remember, pray.
You are ready for some great adventures. Go out and find where you belong. Take some time away from the computer and the TV. Get a little change in scenery. Being connected to nature is wonderful, the world is beautiful. Take advantage of the beauty God has gifted us. Get up and be outdoorsy.
