After recently getting out of a long-term relationship, that, unfortunately, didn’t end well, I had no idea how much the world of dating has changed. I mean, it's good that I had a solid love life, but reentering the dating world in this generation is like entering "Jurassic Park"... by yourself... at night.

Though my time in the single world was short lived, I never realized what single people go through... and man, I am so sorry. When trying to recover from a break-up, we tend to go through stages to get back on our feet again, and who other to help us describe the true struggle than our favorite spirit animal, Kourtney Kardashian.

1. Taking the initial blow

Getting out of a relationship is hard. Sometimes, if the relationship is long enough, it takes a minute, or even a few days, to enter the reality of, “Holy s*it, I’m single.”

2. Where do I start?

Honestly, after such a long (or short) period of time, you have no idea where to begin. Apparently, there’s a dating app now called Tinder?? Yeah, at this rate, you feel that you would rather be forever alone than have to learn to figure this stuff out.

3. Thanks, but no thanks

Then, there are the friends and family members that worry about you and the fact that you’re actually enjoying taking this time to yourself and to finally be able to do you. All of a sudden, you’re set up on the worst blind dates that leave you traumatized.

4. Can we not?!

No matter how many times you tell them, everyone is still insisting that you need someone new in your life.

5. Facing the creeps you can’t shake off

Whether it be a swipe-right gone wrong, or a “nice boy” your friend tries to set you up with, they just can’t seem to let you go. After numerous pictures and messages, you finally get the courage to hit ‘block’ and move on.

6. You know what, good things come to those who wait

After everything, you soon realize that being single isn’t that bad. From the relaxing Saturday nights eating ice cream and watching Netflix alone, you begin to see that, at the moment, being single is the best thing ever!

Being Invisible The Best Super Power

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
