Ah, spring break. After a few months of non-stop studying and homework, we all need a break. Some of us get to go somewhere warm and nice to spend the week off, but most of us need to go home, because we're broke. This doesn't mean spring break doesn't have to be fun, though! Here are 6 fun things you can do if you're staying at home this spring break.

1. Hang out with old friends.

Not everyone will have the same break, but figure out which of your friends are off for the week, too, and do something fun! Go out for lunch, have a movie night, do something fun to reconnect and laugh about the good old days.

2. Spend some time outside.

If you're lucky enough to have nice weather during your break, take full advantage of it. Whether it's taking your dog for a walk or going on a hike somewhere local, get some fresh air, and maybe, just maybe you'll feel like you're spending spring break somewhere else.

3. Go job-hunting.

Okay, maybe this isn't the most fun way to spend your break, but it doesn't hurt to try. If you don't already have a job lined up for the summer, see who's hiring and get applications out there so you don't have to worry about it later on.

4. Try a new restaurant.

Go with your mom, a friend, or your significant other to a restaurant that neither of you have ever been to. Eating somewhere new to you is always interesting, and who knows, maybe you'll have a new favorite spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

5. Do some spring cleaning.

While you're home, rearrange your room, pack up spring clothes to bring back to college, and do some decorating. A fresh start for the spring will make you feel so much happier and it'll change your perspective for the rest of the semester.

6. Hang out with your siblings.

Whether they'd like to admit it or not, your siblings (at least your younger ones) miss you while you're away at school. Make it a point to do something you both love, you won't regret spending some quality time with them!

Yes, we're all jealous of students who get to spend their spring break somewhere beautiful and sunny, but that doesn't mean we can't have a memorable break, too. Try at least one of the activities mentioned on this list and have an awesome, well-deserved break!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
