Who could not live without music? It is as if it is a language of its own. It is one of the only things that can unite people from all walks of life. These are just six songs that I think anyone can relate to during different stages of life. I hope they can help you, too:
1. For falling in love: "God Bless The Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts
For a native New Yorker, I'll admit it: I am a sucker for country music, especially Rascal Flatts. His lyrics always seem to speak not from the head, but from the heart.
2. For travel: "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn
Anyone can relate to the excitement of traveling to a place, and Cohn perfectly captures this in his song about his real trip to Memphis. After you leave a place, you are permanently changed. I just love how he was able to write a whole song in rhyme about a trip he went on. He is truly talented.
3. For not caring what others think: "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World
This is one of the songs that I listened to frequently during high school and still do. It always has a way of always lifting my spirits. Who couldn't love lyrics like "try your best, try everything you can, and don't you worry what they tell themselves when you're away?"
4. For not letting life pass you by: "Weightless" by All Time Low
This song always reminds me to enjoy life right now when you're young because you can never go back.
5. For just wanting to escape: "Miles Away" by The Maine
This is my absolute favorite band. All their songs are relatable, but this one rings true for anybody just wanting to run away to a beautiful place and never return to their everyday responsibilities. "When the buzz ain't like it was, then it's time for a change."
6. For not knowing what you're doing with life: "(Un) Lost" by The Maine
Because who hasn't been confused at one point or another? "Control what you can, confront what you can't. And always remember how lucky you are to have yourself."
