At some point most days, most people become sad, depressed or angry. With such a busy world that demands so much it is hard to remember the simplicity of life, the beautiful joys of nature, the smiling faces of random strangers. I ask that you remember these simple reasons to be happy, even when you're at your lowest.

1. Water

So many countries, so many people without running water. Water supplies your beautiful oceans, rivers, waterfalls and springs. Not to mention keeps you healthy, focused and energized. You should be happy because you have running water.

2. Sunshine

Vitamin D can really do your body some good. I'm no doctor, but the sunshine can make you happy and energized. Go outside and take a breath of fresh air. You should be happy because you can feel the warmth of sunshine on your skin.

3. Dogs

Ok, this one is pretty obvious!! There is a reason colleges bring dogs around during finals week. If you're feeling down, pet a puppy; if a puppy is not available, Google images of puppies and eat chocolate. Look how happy these puppies are! You should be happy because animals love you.

3. Nature

Nature is always going to be there for you, even if anyone else isn't. Take a hike, go to the beach or swim in a lake. Regardless of what you do, looking at our beautiful world will always put a smile on your face. You should be happy because nature is beautiful.

4. Ice Cream

This is a no brainer. Ice cream is in every store and on every street corner. Think about what life would be like without ice cream (yeah, I bet you're pretty thankful now). Ice cream literally equals happiness!! You should be happy because someone invented ice cream.

5. Family

Everyone suffers from sadness, but if you have family who cares, be thankful. Their happiness will more than likely spread to yours; sometimes it is best to listen to them and talk to them instead of keeping your sadness inside. You should be happy because somebody loves you.

6. Friends

As many times as friends can cause sadness, they can cause happiness as well. Friends are always willing to boost up your confidence or put you in a good mood. Sometimes you have to let them try. You never know, it could be just what you needed! You should be happy because somebody cares about you.

Remembering these few simple sources of happiness can completely alter how you embrace your day. If you're stressed, sad or depressed, someone is there even when you don't see it. If you can't see that someone, see something. Look around and observe all the wonderful things the world has to offer.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
