When you're 5, going to school for the first time sounds frightening, and you may be hesitant to walk in your first kindergarten classroom. When you get a little bit older, returning to school means getting to see all your friends, and not being bored anymore. As you get into high school, going back to school means Friday night lights, pep rallies, and another year of new opportunities (because you're a grade older and cooler, of course). Once you graduate high school and begin your college career, school can begin to change from how you saw it before. It can sometimes become more like work. Feelings of stress and anxiety can be brought about just by the mere mention of the word "college." But for some of us, we think of college as more of an experience. We get excited for the fall, so we can continue our experience. An experience full of a beautiful campus, a multitude of organizations and clubs, a diverse study body to befriend, and a wonderful school to call home. That home being The University of Georgia. A summer at home is a great time to spend with family and hometown friends, but there is always a few dead giveaways that prove by the end of the summer, you're ready to pack up and head back to the Classic City.
1. Wanting to go grab some food and immediately start to decide between Pauley's, Fuzzy's, Canes, The Varsity, Grindhouse, Inoko... but then remembering you're not in Athens for the summer.
Nothing like grubbin' in Athens, especially after a long night. It's even better when you know you should be saving money, like a little rush of adrenaline... but it's just too good!
2. Watching UGA Football hype videos every chance you get.
And being taken over by goose bumps, pride, and sometimes tears.
3. Waiting around for move-in day like waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve.
It's always exciting moving into somewhere new, and it feels like forever from when you sign your lease until when you actually move in. Especially those two months of summer.
4. Talking in your fraternity/sorority, club, team, or organization GroupMe about all the exciting events planned for the semester.
Too much excitement to contain! Big things are happening!
5. Making any excuse you can think of as to why you need to go up to Athens for the weekend during the summer.
...That sounds reasonable, right? See ya on Monday!
