Being the mom friend can be tedious, and requires a lot of responsibility. But being the Cool Aunt Friend is a world all its own. It's like being a parent only way cooler, and you're allowed to be irresponsible sometimes.
1. You always have a bag full of necessities, and some... less necessary items.
Friends come to you when they need a band-aid or tampon; but they know they can count on you to also have candy, alcohol, and excess makeup they'd actually want to use.
2. You always have the best advice for everything.
Talking to you is like talking to a friend, only way better. You have a special ability to offer wisdom while still being super relatable. Your friends feel like they can come to you with anything and you won't judge, because you've probably done it too or at least heard about it before.
3. You can handle it when a situation gets out of hand.
If something goes wrong, you're the one who steps in and fixes it. You can pretty much smooth over any argument and get out of any bad situation. The only difference there from being the Mom Friend is that you were probably part of the original problem.
4. You can handle your alcohol.
Your friends think you're great because of this. You can totally hold your own when it comes to drinking, and you never need people to watch out for you. You know exactly how much is enough to have fun, and you know how to have a good time while making sure everyone else is safe.
5. You encourage your friends to try new things.
Hey, if your friend decides she wants to be a vegetarian, you help her. If she decides to wear black eyeliner akin to My Chemical Romance and try out a Scene phase, you're all for it. You understand that people need to try new things to figure out who they are. You also know that you'll be there in case things go wrong.
6. You're the one they confide in.
Your friends know that whatever they tell you is going to be a secret. They feel confident telling you things because they know you won't judge, and you won't tell. That is, unless it's a harmful secret. In those cases, you tell the Mom friend.
