Since The Twilight Zone, horror TV shows have become a very popular genre and of interest to many people. Classics, such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files, live on through media streaming companies like Netflix and Hulu. You should definitely watch those, but I also have some modern day suggestions that are the perfect binge watch. Put these on your list, and get ready to be terrified.
1. Supernatural (2005)
I had to put this show on here first because it is my absolute favorite show of all time. There are currently 10 seasons on Netflix, and season 11 is coming within the next month! Not only does this show deal with several creepy-crawly, scary as hell creatures, but it also comes with two of the sexiest men in TV history: Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. They play two brothers who fight and destroy evil creatures until death (which they usually beat, as well). The overlying themes of good vs. evil and family over everything are super heart-warming, and the characters are ones you'll love forever.
Where you can watch it: Netflix, Hulu
2. American Horror Story (2011)
Okay, this shit is terrifying. I can't even call it scary because it's way more than that. The situations the characters find themselves in are just unreal, but you almost feel like it can happen to you...which scares you even more. Each season has a different theme or plot, but rumor is that the seasons will end up connecting some way or another. Oh yeah, and get ready to be obsessed with actress Jessica Lange, who's basically the scariest woman in television history.
Where you can watch it: Netflix, Hulu
3. Stranger Things (2016)
I obviously didn't have a choice about putting this on here. If you haven't watched season one of this new show by now, then I don't even know what to tell you.
Where you can watch it: Netflix
4. The Strain (2014)
This show is a pretty great find because it deals with more than just a monster. I don't want to reveal too much, but it basically involves the CDC, a crazy old man that seems to be the only one who knows what's going on, and an ancient creature that wants to turn everyone into...I don't even know. I'm currently finishing up the second season and I love it so far!!
Where you can watch it: Hulu
5. Slasher (2016)
This is a new show straight out of Canada, and it is definitely worth the watch if you want a quick scare. There is currently one season out, and word is that they are doing the show American Horror Story style: each season being a different story.
Where you can watch it: Netflix
6. Bates Motel (2013)
Now this show will definitely mess with your mind. It's based off of Alfred Hitchcock's movie Psycho, which is about Norman Bates and his mother Norma. They're weird, creepy people living in a weird, creepy town, and it just gets weirder and creepier as it goes along. You need to watch it.
Where you can watch it: Netflix
These are six horror TV shows that I've watched, but there are way more out there! Here are some that I haven't watched yet but are definitely on my list: Hemlock Grove, The Returned, Penny Dreadful, and Salem. You can find all these on Netflix. Enjoy!
