6 Reasons You Should Always Make Time For Your Hometown Gals
Ashlyn Rittenberry

Sometimes college can get in the way and make you lose sight of your hometown, but one thing you should never forget is the people who were there for you through it all. It's always nice to just put the stress behind yourselves for a night and make memories as you did in the past.

Who knows, your gals may have some juicy gossip for you and you may have an hour long worth of stories to tell them. Here are six reasons why you should always make time for your hometown gals.

1. The Great Reunion

You just saw each other one month ago, but it still seems like it’s been forever! There’s so much catching up to do, you’re all overflowing with gossip. You can’t help but talk over each other because you’ve been apart for too long and there's so much going on in all of your lives. The laughter is absolutely endless and you are just so thankful to be spending quality time with your best gals.

2. Taylor Swift….Need I Say More?

If you really want to see what a true friendship looks like, ride with three best friends in the car for 3 ½ minutes, jamming to T-Swizzle. Don’t even try to sing along, I can guarantee you they will change the words of every single song so they can relate. If you dare ride along, I’d say you’re pretty “Fearless.” (insert winky face)

3. The Honesty Never Fades

We’ve ALL been to Hobby Lobby, right? I mean it’s like a dream come true and every college girl’s worst nightmare. Thankfully we have some pretty great friends to remind us, “we really don’t need anything let’s go…” as we stare at everything on the way out. Without each other, we’d probably STILL be stuck in the stores breaking our banks.

4. Selfies….Are Endless

“Omg this is such good lighting, let’s take a selfie here,” may be overheard at least 20 times while out with the gals. The struggle is very real, “scoot in,” “I’m gonna make a different face this time,” “Ew I don’t like that, take one more!” What we all know is “one more” NEVER means “one more.” Fun Tip: Ulta lighting is the absolute best and you can never take too many selfies on a girls night out.

5. 7/28……Victoria Secret

You ladies all know what I’m talking about when I say “7/28.” It’s like Christmas or Black Friday! Who could possibly be better to fight through a mob in VS with for the amazing “7/28” than your girls? Plus, it’s nice having advice on “Are these cute or no?”

6.FINALLY….Food!!

We all know the real reason anyone plans a night out. Yes, the company is great, shopping is great, but the food, let me tell ya, is great!! Of course, it’s going to take 10 minutes to decide where to eat, but once decided no more time is wasted. Having a hilarious waitress makes going out to eat another memorable part of the night. Although I know you are going to want to scarf your food down, I also know you’re still going to want to talk all you can, so take my advice and don’t forget your to-go box.

After reading this, you’re probably thinking of your own “special” gals you wouldn’t trade for anyone. These girls are always there for you no matter what, and no matter how much time you spend apart, it’s like nothing has changed. So pull out the old Taylor Swift’s CD’s, roll down the windows, and sing your heart out with your best gal pals every chance you get.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
