The walking dead has made a huge rise in popularity over the years and still continuing each season. Go around and ask someone what they do on a Sunday night and I guarantee you they will say, “watching The Walking Dead”. “What’s been even more impressive than the raw numbers is “The Walking Dead’s” demographic performance, and last night was no exception. With 11 million viewers, a 6% increase over last year, the premiere was the most watched show in the 18-49 age group, beating powerhouse live programming like Sunday Night Football.” (Forbes.com) As you can see there is gigantic fan base for this show and these are six reasons why this show is so popular and if you do not already watch it, why you should begin to:
1. No character is safe
The show contains great characters and even when your favorite character dies, you need to keep watching to see what happens next to the rest of the cast.
2. Female audience
Females start off doing the cleaning and prepping of the food while the men go out and hunt, but later on throughout the show they become stronger and seen more as equals.
3. Zombies are “in”
Zombie movies and shows have been very popular over the past years, something about an apocalyptic event gets viewers excited and interested.
4. Unpredictable
Anything can happen to anyone at any time, it keeps viewers at the edge of their seats and pissed that they have to wait a week to see what happens next.
5. It's about the humans
The show is not all about the zombies, so no excuse to say “I don’t like zombies” because it's showing how humans can work together to defend themselves and how an apocalyptic event can change people but that doesn’t stop them from fighting on.
6. Special effects
The special effects are so unbelievable that is makes it look real, you would not guess that there is a normal human being under all that makeup.
