Surely you've heard of him. Fitzwilliam Darcy, the dark, mysterious, and somewhat distant hero of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice." Today he has become the standard for dating and marriage. Every eligible bachelorette wants her very own Mr. Darcy, and she will not settle for anything less. Is Mr. Darcy really so admirable, though? Is he worthy of such an honor? Using the 2005 movie adaption's Mr. Darcy as an example, here are six reasons why he most certainly is.
1. He is honest
Mr. Darcy knows who he is, and he gives no apologies about it. He is honest, a quality that not only should be admired in an individual, but that is essential to any successful relationship as well.2. He is a gentleman
Mr. Darcy would be that person who gets stuck holding the door for everyone, except he wouldn't mind, because he is just that kind of man. Darcy continuously demonstrates his gentlemanly ways throughout the novel, especially to Elizabeth.
3. He is romantic
Because you can't get much more romantic than confessing your love for somebody in the middle of a rain shower. It's a cliché, but Mr. Darcy does it very well.
4. He knows how to propose
A man puts a lot of thought into how he's going to propose to his girl. Here's a thought: Choose a field, tell her to meet you there at sunrise, and then tell her how much you love her. It doesn't get much better than that.5. He is not afraid of compliments
A simple way to let someone know that you love him or her is to be complimentary. Be like Mr. Darcy, and don't be afraid to compliment your significant other.6. He admits when he's wrong

As the title reveals, Mr. Darcy really is perfect. Well, not perfect, but pretty close. So don't settle -- wait for your Mr. Darcy. Because he is out there, and he will love you forever.
