6 Reasons Why Having A Best Friend Who’s Younger Than You Is Amazing

We all have our fair share of friends: friends we’ve known since we were babies, friends from high school and friends from college. Very rarely does a person give the title for their best friend to be an individual who is a few years younger than themselves. However, for the people who DO have a best friend who is younger than they are, it’s nothing short of awesome. There’s something about it that differs from being friends with people your own age or even people older than you are. So, here are 6 reasons why having a best friend who’s younger than you is absolutely amazing.

1. You act as a friend and a mentor.

Having a best friend who is younger than you gives you the power to teach and inspire your friend in ways that are more significant than with friends your own age. Your best friend looks up to you and listens to you more than anyone else because you’ve already experienced life at their age. Little by little, your best friend learns from you throughout your friendship.

2. Drama is rare.

A huge upside to having a best friend who is younger than you are is there isn’t much room for drama. You have your friend group and they have their group, too. You can turn to your best friend as a way of getting away from the drama that you’re used to having between your friends that are your own age.

3. You constantly have something to do.

While you’re busy worrying about college and getting a job and other sorts of stresses, your best friend is still chillin' in high school with no cares in the world. They constantly want to do fun things and go on adventures because their young teenage selves just can’t keep still. Although it can get a bit tiring, you know you’ll never get bored with them.

4. You have someone to come home to.

Whenever I get a break at college and get to come home, I know I can rely on seeing my best friend when I return. My friends my age all have different breaks and aren’t always home at the same time that I am. It’s so nice having my best friend be home whenever I am. And being reunited is definitely one of the best feelings ever.

5. You’re constantly exchanging interests.

The age difference between you and your best friend is cool because you’re always telling each other some of your favorite interests since they vary depending on age. A good example of this is exchanging music. I can show my best friend some oldies that she might not know since she wasn’t alive when that particular music came out. On the other hand, my best friend can get me into some more modern things that I may not be familiar with since I’m older.

6. They’re appreciative of your friendship

.

It can get a bit annoying having a best friend who is younger than you are because they don’t have all the same benefits that you do at your age. A big example of this is driving privileges. I know I personally have to always drive around my best friend because she can’t drive yet. However, this is balanced out with the amount she shows how appreciative she is for all the things I do for her. Anything from a simple “thank you”, to offering to give me gas money or buy me food is enough for me to know she cares about our friendship.

So if your best friend is younger than you, hold on to them for as long as you can, because friends like that don’t come around very often!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
