6 Reasons Why Summer Is The Best Season

6 Reasons Why Summer Is The Best Season

To many of us that are still in school, it may seem obvious why summer is the best season. However, it is not just the two/three-month break from school that makes this season great. In fact, I could think of six reasons why this season is the best.

1. You get to sleep in.

And sleep is very important. It’s also great. During summer you can finally live the dream of going to bed at midnight and waking up at noon. Also, chances are your bed at home is significantly comfier than your bed at school, so it’s only right to make the most of your time together.

2. Summer nights (no, not the song from Grease but they had the right idea).

Summer nights are the perfect temperature and there is zero risk of getting a sunburn. At night you can go anywhere and there isn’t any traffic or crowds or worries. No one is at the beach, no ones at the ice cream shop across town. You can do whatever you want (and don’t forget the no sunburn thing).

3. Summer produce.

The fresh fruit and veggies you can get over the summer are amazing. There are peaches, nectarines, tomatoes, avocados, raspberries, and more. I would do almost anything to get my hands on a ripe summer peach. Also, if you’re able to go to a farm and hand pick your own fruit it’s that much better.

4. Farmer’s markets.

A lot of farmers markets run during the summer and they are so much fun. In my experience, they are a great place to buy all the fresh fruit I was talking about, as well as cheap flowers and other yummy snacks.

5. You finally hang out on your friends' boats.

This one is important, especially if you don’t have a boat of your own. Some summer days are meant to be spent relaxing on a boat, swimming, and not having any cares. Jumping in to the cold water on a hot day is the perfect summer cliché.

6. TV.

For a lot of us, summer is an opportunity to catch up on all the TV shows you missed and all the new movies that came out that you didn’t see. Finally you can binge-marathoner, watching an entire season in one day and still leaving time for your afternoon nap.

For all of these reasons and more, summer is the ultimate, most awesome, totally cool, let's-have-some-fun-in-the-sun season.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
