6 Reasons Why Obama Is One Of The Most Successful Presidents Of All Time

Contrary to the belief of many Barack Obama is one of the most successful presidents in history.

The 44th president of the United States has certainly faltered and made several mistakes along the way. He may not have delivered on all of the promises he made at the beginning of his presidency, but name one president that has? No one said the man was perfect, but with the country set to be in much better shape when he leaves office than when he took over we must come to term with his successes; after-all, a man should be judged on what he has done…not what he hasn’t

In 2008, President Obama was gifted with a crumbling economy, two unpopular wars, and a world that looked upon this country with disdain in. The fact that he was turned the United States around with a Republican Party hell-bent on blocking his every move is a tremendous feat within itself.

Here are 6 reasons, not in order of importance, why President Barack Obama is one of the most successful presidents in history.

1. He Ordered The Elimination Of Osama bin Laded

Osama bin laden, the founder of Al-Qaeda, was notorious for the role he played in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. On May 2, 2011 President Obama ordered the killing of bin laden who was hiding in a private residential compound located in Pakistan.

2. He Brought Healthcare Reform

The oft-criticized ObamaCare, signed in 2010, brought healthcare to 32 million uninsured Americans in 2014. Obama was able to bring universal healthcare to America after 5 presidents tried to bring the same coverage to America over the past 100 years.

3. He Ended The War In Iraq

The Iraq war, criticized for its shady ‘rationale of war’ and misrepresentation of pre-war intelligence, came to a halt in 2011 when Obama ordered the withdrawal of all combat troops.

4. He Repealed 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT), instituted by the Clinton Administration, prohibited military personnel from discriminating against or harassing closeted homosexual and bisexual service members of applicants. At the same time DADT barred openly gay, lesbian, or bisexual individuals from military service because they, “would create an unacceptable risk to the high standards of morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion that are the essence of military capability.” This discriminatory policy was repealed by Obama in 2010.

5. Legalization Of Same-Sex Marriage

After asking the Supreme Court to legalize same-sex marriage the 9 justices voted, 5-4, that the Constitution’s guarantee of due process and equal protection under the law means that states cannot ban same-sex marriage. With the monumental ruling, same-sex marriage became legal in all 50 states in June of 2015.

6. He Saved The American Auto Industry

With the major companies in America’s auto industry, GM, Chrysler, and Ford, crumbling in 2009 Obama ordered $62 billion dollars to be inserted to help get the Big Three back on its feet. The result was a resurging industry that saved nearly one million jobs and has created another 200,000 more.

From this short list we can see that President Obama’s accomplishments during his presidency have been both foreign and domestic. He’s fought for human rights, rescued jobs, and gotten rid of enemies. While Obama has made some mistakes and many look upon his presidency with utter disgust, many should be able to look upon said presidency with objective eyes and hearts and see that President Barack Obama is one of America’s most successful presidents of all time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
