When the South Asian summers become unbearable, we head up to the hills. Here are a few reasons why a Himalayan vacation is the absolute best

1. The weather

After the beastly furnace that is the Gangetic Plain of India, or even the Thar desert, Deccan plataeu or what have you, the Himalayan climate is absolutely heavenly. You can actually walk around outside breathing considerably less polluted air! Its the little things that count.

2. The fresh fruit

The trees are laden with apricots, peaches, plums and tons of other unnamed, local fruits that you can literally pick off the trees and gorge!

3. Sparse internet

No internet = peace. In today's overly connected world, a few days of being completely disconnected can do wonders for your mental equilibrium. You also get to truly experience the company of your travel companions and get to know them in ways you could only have imagined.

4. No pressure to do touristy things

Since everything pretty much looks the same -- beautiful, serene and peaceful -- and if you aren't visiting a famous tourist destination in particular, there is no pressure to go sightseeing because there just aren't a lot of sights to see. So you can truly relax and unwind, or engage in adventure sports, go trekking, camping etc. Just

5. Go on picnics!

The weather is great so if you're feeling like stepping out might as well make an outing of it. Picnic spots abound, pack a bagged lunch, some playing cards and head out!

6. Sleep!

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
