There is no place like it and everyone who grew up here knows its true.
1. There's nothing better than southern hospitality.
When you're raised in Texas, you're surrounded by extremely friendly people. I can't even count how many times I have had strangers go out of their way just to make my life a little easier. Every time you go to someone's house, they will most likely continue to offer you food until it gets to the point where you feel awkward for saying no and end up eating thousands of calories just to be nice to your host.
2. You learn manners at an early age.
Every time I have left the Lone Star State I have noticed the lack of manners people in other states obtain. If someone accidentally bumps into you on the street in Texas, you'll probably apologize even if it wasn't your fault because it's just second nature to be polite. And if someone doesn't say thank you when you hold a door open for them, you automatically assume they aren't native Texans.
3. Basically everyone in the world knows what Texas is.
If you're from Texas, you never have to worry about being from one of those commonly forgotten states like Idaho or Vermont. Sure, everyone may think that we're all fans of the Dallas Cowboys, ride horses to school and constantly say "y'all," but at least they know us. Plus, Beyoncé is from Texas so how could any state compare to that?
4. We have the best food.
There's literally no better food than Tex-Mex and obviously Texas is the best place to have it. Every city has tons of Tex-Mex restaurants to choose from because there's no such thing as too much queso and fajitas.
5. There is always something to do.
If you're ever bored, you're only a few hours away from entertainment. Whether you head down to Austin for a music festival, travel to San Antonio to see the Alamo or go to Dallas to party at the bars in uptown, you can always find some fun way to pass the time.
6. You're always welcomed back with open arms.
If for some reason you decide that you need to live in a place other than the wonderful state of Texas, when you return it's like you never left. People may think you're crazy for leaving in the first place but no matter what, you'll always be welcomed back with big smiles, huge hugs and lots of Blue Bell ice cream.
