We all know how easy it is to fall into a system with your college roommate because it’s your responsibility to make sure that they have their lives together, right? Here are six reasons your college roommate is pretty much your college mom:
1. They wake you up to go to class.
We all have had those long nights before class and made them promise us they would wake us up. We remember assuring them that they have the right to hurt us if we don’t get up right away. Yet, here they are standing over us screaming that we will be late if we don’t get out of bed right now. We hate them for it, but they know it is what we wanted.
2. If you aren’t back by the time you said you would be, they worry.
It’s super easy to lose track of time when you are studying or with your friends. Your phone beeps around 2:30 a.m., you look down, and the message reads “Are you dead or something?” You told her you would be home three hours ago… oops. Maybe next time you will remember to call first.
3. They make sure you go to sleep on time.
Nobody loves late night TV or parties more than they do, but one thing they don’t love is having to drag you out of bed for an exam the next day. And nobody knows more than they do how much you want to ace that test that you are trying to stay up until 4 a.m. to study for. All of this being said, nobody knows more than they do what you are like in the morning with no sleep. This is why they turn the light off at 2:30 a.m. -- it’s for your own sanity.
4. They cry over boys with you.
We all know what it’s like when our future husband in our English class doesn’t realize we exist yet. Good thing your roommate is there to remind you of the important things in life. They are the first ones to dry your tears and the first one to kick some butt if they need to because nobody messes with their girl.
5. They are the first person to know if something good has happened.
They know how hard you work to get an A on that test, and they know how exciting it was that you finally got the job you have been trying for. They are always there and always excited when something good is happening. Because after all, if they are there through the downs, then they are most certainly there for the ups.
6. They love you more than anyone else in the world.
No matter the fights you have, the long nights you endure and the food you steal when it comes down to it, they only want what’s best for you. And you know what the best part is? You have your best friend living right across the room from you and you love her, even when she tells you to clean your side of the room.
