Having a group of people who love and cherish you is the best feeling. After spending one month every summer for the past 6 years at camp, I can honestly say that I have found the best people in the world. It doesn’t matter where you go to camp or for how long, religious or not, day or sleep away: anyone can find their best friends. Here are six reasons why camp friends will always be your best friends.
1. They know every single quirky characteristic about you.
I know that over the past 6 summers, we all learned about all the weird or interesting things everyone does. These range from Dizzy Bat sleepwalking to using Poo-Pourri's Before-You-Go toilet spray or dipping pizza in ranch. We still love each other, weird quirks or not.
2. You know each other's secret codes.
3. They have seen you at your worst.
Whether it is at a campout or playing in a mud pit, they have seen you at your best and your worst. They have continued to call you beautiful even when mosquito bites are all over your body and your hair doesn’t work with the humidity.
4. The list of inside jokes goes on and on.
5. Every year it gets harder to leave them.
Some may live close, but others live far. My best friends live as far as Nebraska, Washington D.C., Israel, and Florida. It is hard to see them. OOVOO, Skype, and Facetime are they best ways to see them again. The tears won’t stop flowing after camp.
6. Camp reunions are the best!
Doesn’t matter the situation- whenever I get to see my camp friends, I will never complain. Tears are exchanged when we meet, and they are also exchanged when we part.
In the end, they will always be there for you. You may hate them sometimes, but you know that you couldn’t have asked for better friends.
