I was feeling very tumblr this week, so why not write this article? This one goes out to all you college girls. College is the best and worst of times. Sometimes you need a powerful quote to remind yourself where you stand, the power of self-worth, and what is good versus what is bad. Here are a few of my favorites, enjoy.

More often than not, we fear change more than most things in the world. Unfortunately, change is something that will happen, whether you want it to or not. Not all change is bad, and some changes can bring the most happiness into your life when you are least expecting it. Try to be optimistic next time you have a big change in your life; your attitude is what controls the outcome.

I cannot stress how important this quote is, because I have learned first hand that you cannot rely on someone or something else for your happiness. You are responsible for your happiness, not your boyfriend. Do not tie your happiness to a boy at our age. You are young! Set goals and dreams and tie your happiness to those. Invest yourself into what you hope to accomplish one day. Look up your dream destinations and jobs and become obsessed with those things. Invest your happiness in something you can accomplish, not something that can ruin you.

As hard as your project that is due tomorrow is, try your best. Even if you think everyone is against you, believe that you can prove them wrong. When you are having a rough time with life, remember all your hopes and dreams. In the end, everything works out just the way it was supposed to. One day, everything will be good.

At our age, we can be so blinded by a person that we can completely miss who they actually are. You can be so fascinated with someone that you make up a phony persona of them in your head, while others think they could be a horrible person. Be real and remind yourself that while there is good in every person, there may be bad too. We tend to forget the bad things people do to us simply because we love them for all the good they do. Treat others how they treat you, never lower your standards.

Things could be going so well for you with anything in your life, and then, out of nowhere, your whole world comes tumbling down. It could be anything from a friendship falling apart, to losing a loved one, to failing a huge exam, to having a break-up. Things happen, and you will have no control over them. That's one of my biggest problems: not being able to function when I don't have control of a situation.
If you are like me, read this quote again. Print it out and put it by every mirror in your house. You must remember that things will always get better, and if they don't, you will get better. At the end of the day, you will learn a valuable lesson about yourself and you will be better from it. There's beauty in the breakdown.

Last but definitely not least, this quote is easily my favorite and has the most important message that everyone needs to take in. This is YOUR life. Not your friends', not your family's, not your ex's new girlfriend's. It's yours. If you suddenly hate your major after two years, then take two extra years to find one you love. If you don't like something, then change it. If you don't like the way someone is treating you, then cut them out. Life is meant to be enjoyed, and while making those around you happy may be important, you need to remember it's just as important to please yourself as well. Love yourself.
