Toddlers are interesting. It amazes me how fast they are
able to learn how to talk and walk. They pick up and imitate everything in
their surroundings. They have so much
energy and manage to wake up at ungodly hours of the morning. My brother, in particular, is
turning three years old in just a few weeks. Here’s a little list of the thing
I love most about him.
1. His Laugh
Every time I hear him laugh, a different noise
emanates from his vocal cords. Sometimes it sounds quiet and calm, while other
times it sounds wild and almost maniacal. You never know what you’re going to
hear. One thing is certain: he’s always laughing.
2. Pain Tolerance
He will hurt himself and cry, and 10 seconds later will stand up and say, “I’m fine, don’t worry," and will continue on with his day. I wish I could do that.
3. Sharing
Whether it’s his toys or food, he’s always willing to share. Just the other day, when I was on Skype with him, he tried to share some chicken nuggets and french fries with me. After I explained that I can’t eat them through the computer, he said “I know, just say 'om nom nom.'" I did as he requested and he ran away laughing. What a goofball.
4. Playfulness
Whether it’s asking me to play soccer with him in the backyard, which he is remarkably skilled at, or playing superheroes and catching the “bad guy," there’s never a dull moment around him. His creativity is constantly flowing and he always has new games he wants to play and new things he wants to do.
5. No Fear
Along with his playfulness, he will run into walls and the like and won’t even be fazed. You have to tell him not to do something dangerous and be careful, or he will do it without a care in the world.
6. Unconditional Love
My brother is the most loving toddler I have ever met. He never hesitates to cuddle, hug, or kiss you, and always says “I love you so much." Whenever I’m having a bad day, I can call or Skype one of my sisters or my mom, ask to talk to Jaxson, and immediately feel at ease.
Having a brother who is 16 years younger than you is kind of odd, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. He got the good genes from my mom: looks, intelligence, and a love for life. Jaxsie Wills, you are a crazy, little, fun boy and I miss you. You’re growing up to be a wonderful little boy.
