I am a self-proclaimed film lover. I’m always up to watch a new movie. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always work out as I hope. I have come across more than a few duds over the years. Normally I’ll still say I liked a movie even if it wasn’t the best, but there are some that I just can’t even choke out the words.
The following is a list of movies I have seen that I wish I could take back watching. I apologize if you find a movie on the list that you like, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion right?
WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD
1. A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)
So many things are wrong with this film. The casting was way off (I’m looking at you Jim Carey). This movie’s biggest offence was that they rearranged scenes. I get why more than one book had to be put into the movie, but you can’t get through books 1-3 then GO BACK to 1! That’s unacceptable… Here’s to hoping the upcoming Netflix series will finally give these books some justice.
2. Clueless (1995)
I saw this movie not long after its 20th anniversary, and I found that even though I was significantly late to the party I wasn’t missing much. The story lacked any substance for me. By the end of the movie if I had to hear Cher say, “As if!” one more time I swear I would have screamed.
3. Napoleon Dynamite (2004)
This movie was literally about nothing. Besides offering some funny one liners that only make sense to others who have seen it, Napoleon Dynamite offers little else that would ever make me want to watch it again. No I will not be voting for Pedro.
4. Ask Me Anything (2014)
You know, I had such high hopes for this movie when I found it on Netflix. It had an interesting premise and a strong start. It even held my interest my interest until the end. Then it had to go and get all weird turning everything I just saw on its head. To make things worse the ending gave no real closure to the audience. Not even a “we’ll let you decide” kind of deal.
5. Mean Girls 2 (2011)
I legitimately hate this movie. Like with the raging fire of a million suns. Mean Girls 2 has a lot of nerve besmirching the good name of the beloved cult classic. I personally choose to pretend that this movie has nothing what so ever to do with the original. So not fetch.
6. Romeo + Juliet (1996)
I am a huge fan of all things William Shakespeare as well as Leonardo DiCaprio. This movie however gets a huge check in the fail column from me. The use of a modern setting and clothing with the original Shakespearean dialog just did not mix well at all for me. What really could have saved this movie for me would have been if they had just updated the language. Would that really have been so hard? Sadly we’ll never know.
Well those are some of the movies I’ve seen and disliked. Did you agree with any of them? Do you have any you would add to the list? Share in the comments below!
