These days, we seem to believe that it takes a mountain to make us happy. We think it requires loads of money to be happy. But that isn't the case at all. Humans don't require much to stay happy. We can find joy and happiness in little things. All we have to do is look for it because it's there, no doubt.
"The art of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from common things" - Henry Beecher
1. Having a Puppy
This is one of the greatest things in life. Having a dog may not be simple at times, between cleaning up poop and other messes and taking care of numerous amounts of things. Dogs bring so much happiness to our days. When you come home from a long day and you're tired and stressed and your little pup welcomes you in the door with loves and kisses and instantly makes you a little happier. They're our best friends and secret-keepers and the top simple joy in our lives.
2. Spring Cleaning
Cleaning? What? Yes, you read that right. Cleaning is fun! Well, not your everyday sweeping and tidying up, but deep spring cleaning is joyous. Days are stressful but cleaning isn't. It's a simple way to detox your mind. Not to mention, you have a clean house afterward. Put some Taylor Swift on repeat and get to working.
3. Bubble Baths
Showers are one thing; bubble baths are completely different. Showers are quick and handy. But when you get to get into a nice warm bubble bath and light a few candles and put some slow songs on, you relax. You have a sense of joy come over you and you come out feeling great and smelling fresh.
4. Family Time
Sometimes this is the most stressful thing to endure. But most of the time, family time is awesome. You get to sit around the table for a good home-cooked meal and sit around the fire and hear stories from your grandparents about earlier, simpler times. This makes me so happy to just relax and enjoy time with the people who know you best.
5. Coffee
A good cup of coffee is so important. Without caffeine, a lot of people stay irritated at the world. But behold the wonders of a great cup of goodness. By the way, you don't have to spend $5 a day on Starbucks. You can purchase a Keurig for around $80 and have endless amounts of coffee.
6. Sleepy Time
This costs nothing, yet brings so much joy to my life. I love sleep. I love naps. I wake up dreaming about going back to sleep.
