The #RelationshipGoals trend was set by many celebrity couples this past year. But to us millennials, models Alexis Ren and Jay Alvarrez were more than just a couple. They were an inspiration to the life we all want to live, travel the world and look good doing it. When you watch one of their videos, you know by the end that you most likely may become upset and envious that their life isn’t yours. But, as Jay Alvarrez always says when people ask why he lives so adventurously and lavishly:
"I'll look back one day at these split seconds of magic and know I lived a life true to me.
Now, it may not be quite as simple as that. Not all of us make money from sponsors and advertisements, but there are lifestyle changes and lessons that can be learned from these two.
1. Take risks.
Maybe not swimming with sharks or skydiving, but having the courage to try something new and get yourself out of your comfort zone will expand your horizons much more than you could believe.
2. Live every day to its fullest.
Learning to not waste time on Netflix or your phone, but instead to go outside and actually do something with your day.
3. Be more creative.
It's easy to get lost in what other people are doing and to forget you're just as capable at being creative and finding something interesting in every day.
4. Learn to pave your own path and avoid conventionality.
It isn’t always necessary to follow the traditional path. If you think you’d do better another way, try it, then do what makes you happy and that will ultimately lead you to success.
5. That our world is much bigger than imagined.
There is so much outside of your usual four walls and having goals to see even just a portion of it is important.
6. That we are more capable than what we think.
Sometimes we get stuck thinking we’re average or unable to do something. If you want something bad enough you’re capable of doing it.
If you step outside the glam and hype of the Jay and Alexis relationship, you’ll notice that they’re just two people who found a way to beat the system. They found a way to be something different and do what everyone wished they could do. Leave all of us at home craving wanderlust and seeking adventure, and of course their relationship would be nice too.
