Through extensive and rigorous investigation of the popular, yet underrated, television series House M.D. (it's still on Netflix; don't worry, I got you), it has come to my attention that Dr. Greg holds characteristics quintessential to the average college student. Don't believe me? Well...
1. When it comes to schoolwork.
Greg is the absolute epitome of procrastination. Paperwork? Not his forte. Meeting with patients? Never. So when it comes to that group project you've been saddled with, it's perfectly okay to feign a fever or even a broken bone; just as long as the project gets done in the end.
2. He keeps it real.
Brutal honesty is the best policy. And let's be honest, wouldn't you love to tell that annoying girl next to you that you truly cannot stand her? House does. It's liberating. House reminds us to speak our minds and that it is important to understand the delicate dynamic of conversation. Understand, but not always respect.
3. House is completely contradictory.
Like when you said "One more episode" three hours ago? Go to bed, you have class tomorrow.
4. We all have our BFFs.
Someone to get us through long nights that turn into horrible mornings. Everyone needs a Wilson to their House to keep them out of trouble. Even a genius like House (or you, for that matter) needs to be knocked down a peg sometimes. And when you are, you remember that...
5. Temper tantrums are not just for toddlers.
Yes, it is best when things go according to plan. But when all of your professors are hurling work at you and you haven't eaten anything but a brown sugar cinnamon Pop-Tart and a cup of coffee all day, sometimes a good cry, a nap and food (definitely food) can help you out.
6. We're just going with the flow.
College is hard, life is harder. Dr. House reminds us that there is almost always a solution to every problem, and it's often the simplest (Occam's Razor and all that jazz). So make the most of your short four years of college. Pout, make mistakes, trust your instincts and above all just don't kill the patient.
