With the wrap up of season six of "Bob's Burgers" this past week, how well do you know award-winning animated series?
1. Tina was originally a boy name Daniel.
According to an interview with "Bob’s Burgers’" creator Loren Bouchard for NPR’s Pop Culture Happy Hour, Daniel was scrapped when test audiences thought the eldest character needed to ‘pop’ more. When they switched Daniel to Tina, though, they only had to change one word in the demo.
2. A Fan-Made Blog got turned into a cookbook.
Cole Bowden, a fan of "Bob’s Burgers," decided to start making the ‘Burger of the Day’ puns as real burgers. Working off only the name, usually including one unique ingredient, his work became a blog called The Bob’s Burger Experiment. He later partnered with Bouchard to make his recipes a cookbook that any fan can buy.
3. The original pitch had a cannibalism twist to the family restaurant.
In an interview with the A.V. Club, Loren Bouchard said that the original pitch to producers was about “a family of cannibals who runs a restaurant.” While the network steered him away from that idea, they kept “everything but.” If you remember back to the first episode, there’s a reference to the original idea when Louise spread the rumor that the family’s restaurant actually serves human flesh.
4. The only female character in the Belcher family that is voiced by a woman is Louise.
Both Tina and Linda are actually voiced by males – by Dan Mintz and John Roberts respectfully. Louise is voiced by Kristen Schaal, who has also voiced roles in "Gravity Falls," "Toy Story 3," and "Archer."
5. Tina is the only Belcher to have her middle name revealed.
Tina’s middle name is revealed to be Ruth in the episode "Presto Tina-o." As for the other members of the Belcher family, it's still unknown.
6. We don’t know where "Bob’s Burgers" is based.
While we know the restaurant is on Ocean Avenue, we currently don’t know what the name of their town is. The voice actors actually informally call the town Seymour’s Bay as a reference to the editor’s name Mark Seymour and the amount of time they spend in his editing bay. Whether it’s East Coast or West Coast, though, that’s still unannounced.
