Maybe you're one of them, maybe you encounter one of them on your drive to work or school, or maybe you've heard about them from coworkers or fellow classmates. It doesn't matter how or when you have encountered them though, or if you are one of them. The only thing that matters now is that you're aware that they exist and can plan accordingly.
1. The Texter/Phone Talker
How many times do we have to hear of people getting into car accidents because they were texting or talking on the phone while driving to realize that it is not a safe thing to do? Now they have made texting and driving illegal to do, and while talking on the phone while driving is not illegal, it is still a distraction while driving. You know you've come across these drivers when you see a car veering into another lane because the driver is not focused on the road anymore at the time. They are too engrossed in their phones. We are not invincible people and this needs to stop.
2. The Lane Jumper
Now when it comes down to these drivers, I am not talking about the people that change lanes due to the fact that their exit is coming up or they have to make the next turn. They are the people that are constantly jumping lanes to get in front of people because apparently everyone else is not going fast enough for them and they feel that they are more important than the rest of us. The main reason that these people are frustrating is because they don’t realize that what they are doing could cause a car accident and that they could seriously injure others.
3. The Shoulder Rider
I’m sure that we have all encountered theses drivers before. They are the ones who, when stuck in traffic, decide that they are going to drive on the shoulder, which is not a lane whatsoever...but they think it is. They do it just to get further down the line of cars that are all stuck in the same traffic jam that they are. Again, these people think that for some reason they are better than the rest of us and that their time is more valuable than anyone else’s, so to the shoulder they go.
4. The Lane Ends Driver
These people are so irritating and I'm sure we have all come in contact with one of them. They are the ones that, no matter how many signs they pass telling them that the lane they are in is ending in so many feet, continue to drive in that lane until the last minute like they had no idea. Then they get mad at you for not letting them in when you followed the rules 500 feet beforehand. Or they know the lane is ending and everyone in front of them is going too slow, so they speed into the ending lane to get in front of the rest of the cars because, again, for some reason their time is more important.
5. The Tailgater
Tailgating can be a good thing, but only when it's done in a parking lot of a sporting event. However, when it comes to driving, it is not a good thing. Tailgaters don't realize that when they ride someone else's bumper, it isn't necessarily going to make that person drive any faster. In retrospect, it could make them drive even slower and then there could be another problem at hand.
6. The Non-Blinker User
Isn't it considerate to give people warning as to what you are going to do in life? Wouldn't you like to know if someone was going to come into your lane so you could prepare for it? Well, people who don't use their blinker obviously don't care about giving others warnings about their driving habits. They don't even think that their actions could cause an accident. They just go about their business changing lanes with no blinker. What jerks!
Now there are many drivers on the road and you are one them. Knowing what kind of other drivers are on the road can help you out on your commute. It can also help you to figure out if you're one of these drivers. Either way, this list can now help you prepare for your morning commutes in the future.
