Everyone loves music and everyone loves Disney, therefore, everyone loves Disney music. Well, at least, that how I see it. College can be stressful, but listening to a little Lion King or Hercules can help take the edge off. Here are 6 notable Disney songs to get you through even the most intense finals week.

1. “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” -The Lion King

This iconic Lion King song has you looking forward to the end of the semester. As you sing along to Simba’s (but really Johnathan Taylor Thomas’) words, he is encouraging you to make it through the semester. When he sings “No one saying, ‘do this/ No one saying, ‘be there’/No one saying, ‘stop that’/No one saying, ‘see here,’” remember that once you are done with the semester, you will be free.

2. “Go the Distance” -Hercules

When Hercules sings “I'll be there someday, I can go the distance/ I will find my way if I can be strong,” remember that you will actually make it through finals week. Look to Hercules whenever you are feeling hopeless or miserable, as his words will help you to trudge on.

3. “When You Wish Upon a Star”- Pinocchio

This Disney anthem reminds us that anything is possible if you just wish it. Although an A in International Relations is not exactly wishing material, this song can help you get through the rough times. Just remember that “anything your heart desires will come to you.”

4. “Hakuna Matata” -The Lion King

Timon and Pumbaa get this “wonderful phrase” stuck in audiences head every time it is played. Whenever finals are stressing you out and you need a breather, listen to this iconic duo belt out “it means no worries, for the rest of your days.” This phrase of “Hakuna Matata” will relax you after a hard exam or intense studying session.

5. “Bare Necessities” The Jungle Book

This lighthearted song will help you forget your problems. With Baloo’s inspiring words and fun rhymes, this song will assist you in unwinding during an intense finals week. As he sings “forget about your worries and your strife,” remember those finals are stressful, but they are not everything. Baloo continues by singing “the bare necessities of life will come to you,” meaning that everything will work out regardless of a C on your Comparative Politics exam.

6. “Let It Go” Frozen

Once it is all over, there is no changing the scores you received and the grades you have. Remember there is no reason to stress or freak out, and that you should just “let it go.” You can try again next semester, but do not ruin your last week in your college town because you did not get the grade you wanted. As Queen Elsa says “let it go, can’t hold it back anymore.” Finals are over, but your life isn’t, so let it go and try again next semester.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
