At some point in everyone’s lives, you'll get caught in some awkward situation where small talk is necessary or else it is honestly just uncomfortable. It is hard to figure out how to break that awkwardness and actually start a conversation with someone, so I am going to help you out and give some examples of different questions to strike up a conversation to ease that serious weirdness!
1. What is the best and worst career advising that you have ever received in your lifetime?
This question can start an interesting conversation, you get to learn about the best and worst things that have been advised to the person you are talking to. Plus, you may even be able to pass on the good advice!
2. Who is your favorite person to follow on Instagram?
With this question, finding out who other people follow and enjoy following can be fun because you may be into the things that they post too!
3. What is the weirdest thing that you have ever eaten?
I would love to know about the weird things you eat when no one is looking, or maybe when they are looking, who cares!
4. If you could fly anywhere for free, where would you go?
Traveling can be so fun, but what about if it was free? Where would you want to go? I would love to go to Mexico or literally anywhere with a beach!
5. Who is the most important role model that you have had in your life?
Role models can make big impacts on people and they are super important, they may have even shaped you into the person that you are today. It's interesting to see what kind of role models people have or have had in their lives.
6. If you could teach a college course on any subject, what would it be?
College can be pretty rough sometimes, especially having to go to boring classes, but imagine being able to teach literally any subject! Sharing what subject you would teach with another person could be so interesting!
Those are just some interesting but entertaining questions you can ask someone to get rid of that cringe-worthy awkwardness. Coming up with unique questions yourself can really help make conversation interesting and can often times really keep the conversation alive and well, killing any awkwardness that there once was!
