Journaling is one of those things the average human girls thinks about as often as they see pretty notebooks with some catchy phrase like "follow your dreams" written in loopy paint brushed cursive at Marshals, because who can say no to pretty notebooks? Oh no? Just me? But seriously, the activity, or maybe a better word is art, of journaling is something that is truly special. Here I give only six of the thousands of reasons you should start journaling today:

1. It helps you keep memories.

Yea it's easy to say that you'll eventually forget to write it in for months on end so why even bother beginning, but there really is no other joy than opening up an old journal and reading a page of your old thoughts and being able to perfectly picture the time and place.

2. It's an outlet for pent up frustrations that otherwise could boil over.

Writing is a truly theraputic activity. It allows you to say exactly what you want to say, how you want to say it without any negative repercussions. In a sense, journaling let's you "get it out there" so you no longer have to hold onto that stress so tightly.

3. It allows you to see how much you've grown.

You may think that you would never want to relive the pain from a breakup or a parent's divorce, but one of the awesome benefits of journaling is being able to see yourself at a different time and realizing that you're no longer that person. It allows you to see concretely just how much you've matured and aged over the years.

4. Looking back and comparing is fun and hysterical!

Let's be honest, reading about your first grade crush or your first party as a college freshman when you spilt that beer all over your too short pink skirt and you were sooooooooooo embarrassed is pretty hilarious years later.

5. It gives you a reason to have alone time.

Even the most classic extrovert (aka me) needs some down time by themselves every now and again. Journaling is a perfect reason to take this step back, even if it's for a moment.

6. It's easier than ever!

With the invention of apps like Day One and the internet magic that is Google Docs, keeping a journal is easier than ever. You can even sync everything across your devices if you're so technologically inclined. And if you're old fashion and want to stick with pen and paper, there's still the option as well. But in the age of technology, there's no longer a reason you can't find the time. If you can find the time to read Cosmo's snapstory for the fourth time today, you have time to jot your thoughts down quickly on your phone.

Happy journaling everyone!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
