It is the summer for many college students to embark on the exciting, yet taxing summer internship we have strived to land all year. The internship that will give us the “experience” and “expertise” our hiring field is looking for post-graduation. Just last week, I experienced my first day and I am here to clearly state that these thoughts, feelings and discoveries of office life are very, very real.

1. Sh*t I hope my GPS takes me to the right place.
2. I am so navigationally challenged.
3. Okay breathe. “Your destination is on your left.” Yes I can see that GPS, but where?!
4. Okay we are in the building. Where’s the directory that tells me what floor?
5. Found the directory! God I love this thing.
6. Riding in an elevator surrounded by men in suits and women in pantsuits. Damn, I need to get some pantsuits...
7. Glass doors. This is very official.
8. Remember: walk through doors with elegance, profession, and class.
9. Do not trip, do not trip, do not trip.
10. Damn it, I forgot how cool my boss was, so stylish and pretty.
11. Yeah, I really do need to go shopping.
12. There is definitely an Office Chic section on LuLu’s.
14. Hello cubicle!
15. How can I customize my cubicle…?
16. STAPLES!!
17. It will be like decorating my dorm room, college style, but now I am a working adult, so it will be like, office style.
18. Alright time for my tour, whatever she tells you just remember everything. Do NOT forget any detail.
19. Storage room, copy room, that’s the scanner; there’s the fax machine, first printer area, second printer area, colored printer…
20. This is an endless office. It is maze.
21. “This is Blank’s office. He is Head of Advanced Marketing. This is Blank’s office. He is the Director of Operations. This is…”
22. Does she really think I am going to remember this??
23. Do I not get little notecards or a cheat sheet???
24. Ah safe and sound back in my cube.
25. I feel so awkward. I have no friends.
26. I should meet my neighbors!
27. Wow, boy to my left in the navy suit is very attractive.
28. Ryan? Great name.
29. We will be working together!?
30. Hell yes! Office romances are the best. The RomComs don’t lie.
31. Oh here comes boss woman. With Excel sheets stapled together…
32. My new workload I can see…
33. “Hey Raymer! Can you filter through the names marked J, create a new Excel sheet exclusively with the new names and the policy numbers, then create a mail merge that combines their addresses, policy numbers and last names so we can send them out? Oh also, don't forget to add the letterhead at the top!"
34. Do I even have a choice….
35. God I have learned nothing in school to prepare me for this.
36. Or maybe I have and I just never listened.
37. I think my pulse just speed up by 100 beats.
38. Okay YouTube tutorials, here I come!
39. I did it.
40. I AM AWESOME!
41. “Great, thank you Raymer! Now that you are done with that, can you start working on the website redesign layouts and then look into the publications and organizations I suggested for the sponsorship? I sent it out in my email from this morning.”
42. Of course, I would love to! God, there is nothing more I would like to do!!!
43. I of course would never say that out loud.
44. I. Did. It. I. can. Finally. Breathe.
45. Is it 5 o’clock already???
46. Whoever coined the phrase "time flies when you are having fun" lied.
47. Time flies when you know your boss will destroy you if you do not complete your work in a timely, correct fashion.
48. *Getting in my car and scrambling for my keys to turn on the air-conditioning*
49. Aright GPS, take me home!
50. I HATE RUSH HOUR.
51. Now I finally get why people listen to these radio shows.
52. I am home. God I am home. I love being home.
53. I need a glass of wine.
54. Now I understand the reason our parents always had a glass in their hand when we came home from school.
55. Work is hard.
56. But I want to go back.
57. I feel so old.
58. I wonder what Ryan’s doing?
