31 Thank Yous To My Soul Sister I Met In College

It's hard to believe that my freshman year is almost over... time flies when you're having fun! After my first semester, I honestly felt like I went through a metamorphosis... from a timid caterpillar into a confident, social butterfly, especially in terms of all the people I have met so far. Unlike most people, I was fortunate to find the person I'm convinced I've been looking for since the beginning of my existence! Not only a best friend, but my soul mate... and if I hadn't met her, I'm not sure who or where I'd be right now.

1. Thank you for clearing up chemistry and psychology for me, when my head was spinning in lecture.

2. For loving desserts as much as I do, and not giving a care in the world just how much and what hour of the day we eat it.

3. For coming to every single one of my monthly a capella recitals, even if it interferes with your sleep schedule.

4. For dropping everything you're doing, even on your busiest days, when I have a bad day to meet me, listen to me vent, and sprinkle your wisdom to guide me back on the path to sunshine.

5. For introducing me to your favorite people in life, the people who shaped you into who you are today, and allowing me to do the same for you.

6. For loving my family and best friends from home like a second family!

7. For being my gal-entine, and making Valentine's Day a pleasant holiday for me.

8. For approving of all the guys who come and go in and out of my life... you always seem to know the right type of guy for me.

9. For encouraging me to take risks, whether it be going for my dream job or auditioning for a solo I've been too nervous to audition for.

10. For being goofy with me in public, even when people tell us to quiet down... we only get louder.

11. For willing to get all dressed up and hit the town or a party on campus for a fun-filled night!

12. For Face-timing or calling me, rather than texting me, because you know just how much I despise using Voice Control.

13. For wanting to go skating with me regularly when no one else wants to.

14. For making me laugh until my stomach hurts.

15. For never getting sick of spending time with me, even if we see each other a million times during the day.

16. For always keeping a conversation going, with a story to tell or an array of topics to discuss!

17. For helping me learn Russian, and compare the language to Bosnian, then freaking out if the words or phrases sound similar or identical in both languages because now we have a secret language of our own!

18. For competing to see who can send the most unflattering Snapchats.

19. For mimicking all the little things I do, and vice-versa... goes to show we not only pay attention to each other, but are morphing into the same person.

20. For being my personal photographer, and by that I mean willing to take a million pictures of me or with me until we get the perfect ones!

21. For letting me put my trust in you with personal issues because I know you won't tell a soul!

22. For finding the most unpredictable and coolest nicknames around to call me.

23. For seeing me at my worst and still loving me like a sister!

24. For being patient with me, whether it be shopping or taking a while to walk to your location (I can't help my little legs!).

25. For never being jealous... you only want the best for me, to see me succeed and be happy both now and in the future.

26. For knowing every time I'm having a rough day and I don't have to say a word.

27. For finishing my sentences before I do and using the exact phrasing I'd use.

28. For willing to crack the windows open, blare tunes from the radio, and sing out from the top of ours lungs as we're driving, even if people on the sidewalk stare at us funny.

29. For having my back. And if I'm wrong, you lessen my narrow-headed attitude by explaining how it is at the other end of the situation.

30. For being honest, yet courteous for just about anything... when trying on clothes, making judgments about people, and so on.

31. And finally, for being the person I've needed my whole life! You're the best friend a girl could ever ask for, and I say that with all the gratitude and love from the bottom of my heart!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
