We are the generation that takes everything for granted. However, it is not only our generation--although, we are as spoiled as ever--but our country as a whole. All of us endure problems that incite daily complaints from us and cause us to forget that there are actual problems out there in other parts of the world. Real problems. Not our superficial little situations that are a result of our own self-absorbed, lazy attitudes. These day to day experiences are so trivial, yet most of us treat them like they are the end of the world. Here are 50 #FirstWorldProblems that most of us have faced within our lifetime and things that we take for granted on a daily basis. This post is not only intended for humor (I hope you get a few chuckles from this article), but also to highlight how important it is not to take things for granted because there are actual, real problems (big ones) in other countries.
Technology & Social Media
1. Spellcheck
Spellcheck is one of our greatest enemies and sometimes makes us appear foolish, usually doing more harm than good. It occasionally even makes us want to toss our phone at a wall .
2. No or Slow Connection
Sometimes our wifi connection can give us headaches when its as slow as a snail. We cringe and roll our eyes in frustration when texts send slowly .
3. Dying Battery
Nothing worse than a draining battery. Especially when your charger is in the another room. R.I.P.
4. Charger Doesn't Reach
Short chargers are the worst when you're trying to sit comfortably on a sofa or bed. It's always a good idea to invest in a long charger.
5. IG Captions
Thinking of witty IG captions don't come easily to the majority of us. Thinking about the perfect caption can be a nuisance and a headache.
6. Not Having Enough Followers
People these days are worried about not having all the followers they feel they deserve. This trivial dilemma is a prevalent worry in today's society.
7. Not Having Enough Likes
Only 60 likes? That's not good enough! It's the end of the world as we know it.
8. 30 Second YouTube Ads
YouTube ads, or any ads for that matter, are irksome and seem to last for an eternity, but they're only 30 seconds long. 30 seconds TOO long.
9. "Long" Microwave Time
Many people grow impatient when using the microwave. Personally, when I'm microwaving food I just want it to end. We're lucky to even have microwaves in the first place.
10. Too Many Device Options
Sometimes I can't decide whether to use my iPad or my Kindle and it becomes one confusing battle of which to use. That sometimes happens to many of us and having to decide is a hard decision.
11. Shattered Smartphone
The shame of having a shattered phone until we get a new one and having to tape the screen can put a damper on anyone's day.
12. Not Having the Newest Smartphone
Every year a new and improved smartphone comes out, leaving some people who just bought their smartphone feeling as though their phone is out of date and they are out of the loop.
Health & Beauty
13. Not Enough Outfit Options
This is mostly an issue with us girls (although it can be a dilemma for some guys as well): not being able to find an outfit amongst all the clothes we own.
14. Makeup Shortage
And while we are on the topic of shortages, when we run out of makeup we feel the urge to run to the store and buy all the makeup that we can buy. Even when we have a whole stash waiting for us back at home. There is no such thing as too much makeup.
15. Shampoo & Conditioner Problems
Shampoo and conditioner never finish at the same time, a common issue in houses throughout the country. And unless you have backup ones stored away somewhere, an annoying trip to the store is in order.
16. Gaining A Couple Pounds
In a culture where the health and beauty industries are powerful and incredibly influential, more and more people tend to fall into the mindset that they are fat even when they are not. This turns into an obsession with weight.
17. Clothes Shrinking
We have all mourned our favorite pair of jeans or a favorite t-shirt that had the misfortune of shrinking in the wash.
18. They Don't Have Your Size
When the item in the store that we want to buy has all the sizes, but our own. Yeah, that's never fun.
19. Not Being Tan Enough
For some reason lighter skin isn't something most people strive for. It's all about tanning and if you're not tan enough then a tanning bed is in order.
20. Bad Hair Days
I, too, have "suffered" from bad hair days and let me tell you (although I probably don't have to because everyone has "suffered " from this at least once in their life) it definitely can be the worst.
Food & Comfort
21. Gloomy Fridge
Looks like it's time to take a long trip to the grocery store. Our stomachs cry in agreement.
22. Same Food
If you attend any school, high school or college, the cafeteria or dining area can be saddening when it's always the same food. But at least it's food right? Shouldn't we all be grateful that we have something to eat? We complain anyway.
23. Too Many Menu Options
Stuck looking at the menu and sweating because you feel bad that the waiter or waitress is waiting on you to finally make a decision? It's okay, we've all been there. Water, please.
24. Snack Sharing
Everyone has that friend (or friends) who always ask for a snack. It may be irksome at times, but what are friends for?
25. No Chip Dip
It always is a major letdown when our chip dip decides to leave you when you still have chips left on your plate. Looks like you'll have to improvise or simply get over it.
26. Messed Up Order
I was waiting in this long line for the people to mess up my order and now I have to wait even longer to get the food I actually wanted? How dare they!?
27. Leaving Your Lunch
When you forget your lunch at home and now you have nothing to eat all day unless you bring yourself to ask someone if they'd be willing to share something with you.
28. Hot & Cold
It's a little ironic how cold beverages become warm and warm or hot beverages become cold after awhile. No one likes a lukewarm drink or a cold meal.
29. Utensils
That awkward moment when you need a fork or spoon and there's none. Guess you have to learn to eat with your hands or make do with not eating until later. It's a tough decision for us hungry folk.
30. No TP
When the toilet paper runs out. I think you know the rest.
31. Comfy Blanket
Once you're comfortably wrapped up all snug in your blanket, you don't want to get up. But sometimes you have to. And that makes you unhappy.
Life & Miscellaneous
32. School & Work
School or our job can become irritating after awhile and the people there sometimes can only make the experience much worse. Which gives us the entitlement to complain relentlessly about it.
33. Dress Code
Ah, a favorite rant topic amongst high school females who are angry that they can't show off as much skin as they want to in the place that was built for the purpose of educating young minds.
34. College Applications
College applications are nerve-wracking and a pain in the neck. They are something that we all dread (or dreaded, to those of us who are well past that nightmare that we wish to forget) and even obdurately complain(ed) about.
35. Traffic
I think that it's safe to say that all of us can relate to this one. Traffic can awaken the beast within us all, even the best of us. Need I say more?
36. Dirty Car
Many people I know (mostly men) complain when their car is dirty. Some even whine over a few spots that don't even seem noticeable. I'm sure you can relate.
37. Long Lines
I don't think there is anyone who exists on this earth who enjoys a long line. It sometimes brings the worst out of us.
38. Parking Lot Pressures
The parking lot is a battlefield; a competition to get the best and closest spot so that the walking isn't too far, time consuming, and energy draining.
39. Dirty Dishes
Dirty dishes are the worst. They're so annoying that dishwashers were invented as well as an array of different soaps, each guaranteeing to aid in an easier and less painful cleaning.
40. Cleaning Up Messes
Cleaning up messes, especially ones that you didn't create, are irritating inconveniences and something none of us want to deal with.
41. Chores
C'mon let's admit it, we have all complained about chores at least once in our lives. #nuffsaid
42. Waking Up "Early"
This is a popular one for high school and college students. Waking up early (or what we deem as early) is the worst part of every day.
43. Remote Control
Getting the remote control can feel like the biggest burden in the world when it's only a foot away, but it feels like a mile.
44. Nothing To Watch
With all the channels on TV, there are limited options for pesky watchers. Even Netflix, the lifesaver and everyone's go-to app, can be a letdown at times.
45. Lack of Books
Fellow bookworms can relate to the feeling of not having enough books. The endless stacks of already-read books that we enjoyed are only a reminder of the ones we still need to purchase. #logophiles
46. Airport
Having to schedule flights, endure the long lines in a crowded airport, and deal with flight delays are the topic of many complaints from frequent fliers.
47. ATM Machines & Fees
The inconvenience of no available drive up ATMs when its late at night and you don't want to get out of the car. And not to mention being bombarded by all those ATM fees.
48. Friend Drama
Too much drama occurs in many friend groups or in relationships. This is usually when people gravitate to social media to complain about it.
49. Unrequited Love
Unrequited love or attraction is the worst. It makes people feel less of themselves.
50. Being Single
There is nothing wrong with being single. However, most single people tend to think otherwise. Being single can be very rewarding if you let it be.
