We all know the feeling. Whether you're stuck in your dorm on a Friday or Saturday night with no plans, sitting alone once the kid you're babysitting has gone to bed or you're trying to kill time in an airport; we all know the feeling of boredom. Fortunately, I've come up with a collection of websites that you can use to help you kill time during your times of boredom.
1. TypeDrummer (typedrummer.com)
TypeDrummer is a website that has a text box in the middle of the screen and when you begin to type a word this website creates a drum loop based on the word that you type. When using this, you can type in words, or simply experiment with typing gibberish in order to actually create a good sounding loop. This website also allows the user to share the beat that they've made. This way you can type in a fun message and then share the type of loop that word makes with your friends or family.
2. ButtonBass (buttonbass.com)
ButtonBass is a step up in complexity from TypeDrummer but what this website allows you to do is create a beat using pre-synced drum, synth and effect tracks. The user can choose between a series of different cubes that contains sounds for different genres such as reggaeton, hip-hop, trap, and electro.
3. Sporcle (sporcle.com)
Sporcle is my favorite site in this collection of websites as there is so much you can do. It is basically a website full of quizzes of all different kinds based on several different topics. You can take a quiz on practically any television show that ever aired, the full cast of any fictional movie or even on geographical locations of the U.S.A. The number and diversity of quizzes will have you hooked for hours and you can share your results with your friends and challenge them to do better.
4. StumbleUpon (stumbleupon.com)
StumbeUpon is a little different from the rest of the previous sites in this article in that StumbleUpon allows the user to click on the "Stumble" button which brings you to websites relevant to interests that you choose when you sign up. I found both TypeDrummer and ButtonBass on StumbleUpon but those are just a few of the hundreds of other awesome websites I never would've known existed if I didn't use StumbleUpon.
5. GeoGuessr (geoguessr.com)
GeoGuessr is the coolest and most complex of all of these sites, but it is a creative and addicting way to kill time. What this website does is use Google Maps to drop you in a location anywhere in the world and based on the elements in the screen where you were dropped you have to guess on a map of the world where you are. I love the idea behind this and find myself playing it frequently.
