Being trapped inside for the weekend while DC gets crippled by snow is the perfect opportunity to have some fun and do whatever you want. While we should be doing homework and laundry, here are some fun things to do with your roommates.
1. Movie Marathon
With the release of the newest "Star Wars" movie now is the perfect time to re-watch the first movies in the series. If "Star Wars" isn't your thing, "Lord of the Rings" is another fantastic series that will easily consume some of the long hours indoors. Or, celebrate the snowpocalypse with a snow themed movie such as Disney's "Frozen." You can literally Netflix and chill.
2. Arts, Crafts and Games
Adult coloring is definitely on the come up and is a fun way to relax and de-stress. You can go online and print off pictures of intricate mandalas that will keep you occupied for hours. If you have board games or cards in your dorm, invite your neighbors over for a game night. Even Xbox has multiplayer games like "Fibbage", a game where you try to trick your friends with lies. Or, you can go with a throwback and play a game of charades
3.Play in the snow
If you can handle the cold wind, organizing a snowball fight would be incredibly epic. Not many college kids have sleds laying around, but you can improvise. Of course there is the classic, "Do you wanna build a snowman?" The best part of playing out in the snow is coming inside to warm up with some hot chocolate.
4. Clean/Re-organize
You have no excuse and all the time in the world. As much as you don't want to, it is time to do the ten loads of laundry you have been putting off or clean the bathroom because you can barely see yourself due to all of the water and toothpaste stains. Or the mountain of dishes that has been accumulating since the first day of the semstser. Whatever cleaning it is, now is the time.
5. Catch Up
We are early in the semester, so classes aren't loading up the work yet but trust me, it is coming. If you have your first paper or project coming up, it would be wise to start it now. Or you can go the opposite route and catch up on your sleep. No one is going to stop you from sleeping fourteen hours a day, so take advantage of that! You could also catch up with your parents or friends that aren't snowed in.
Bonus: Drinking
If you're of age, I'm sure that some (or most) of your class and work free nights will be spent drinking. The good part is that drinking can be paired with all of the activities above. Tape mustaches on your TV and drink whenever they line up with actors faces. Or, drink whenever a plow truck drives by. Get creative, stay safe and have fun.
