It's crazy that I am about to start my fourth semester of college. Literally, I feel like I just left home yesterday but I am so excited to start my spring semester for one reason. I have finally learned how to be productive and make the most out of my time. I say this because I am, in my opinion, killing my classes and juggling two internships while also having fun. Oh, and religiously watching Netflix. I want to share a few of my ways to you so that way going into this semester you won't feel overwhelmed and be prepared!
1. PRINT THE SYLLABUS.
I know that you are probably religiously told this but seriously, it is your life line to a class. I like printing before the first class so that way when we review the syllabus, I can make changes on the paper and have everything together. The syllabus is also super important for my next point on staying on top of things because it has all the due dates.
2. WRITE DOWN THE DUE DATES.
Personally, I write what we are supposed to go over in class, what is due and what I should read for the class. I realize that is probably my OCD but at least write down the important due dates! I also color code each class and then have one color for each internship and another color for other items. My planner is my life.
3. MAKE A TO-DO LIST.
I have a small pad that I make a to-do list on for each day. I make sure to actually limit the list to things I can complete on that day. I have found that if I overwhelm myself then I won't do anything. My favorite thing to do is add in things that I really like to take time to do. Such as cook dinner, play with my dog, and watch an episode (or 12) on Netflix so that way I can work it in between the more mentally tasking items.
4. HAVE A NOTEBOOK AND FOLDER/BINDER FOR EACH CLASS.
I know depending on how many classes you are taking this could be a lot but it is so much easier when everything is separated and organized.
5. FIND YOUR MOTIVATION.
This is my main thing. When I switched major's I wanted to find a quote that really spoke to me and was something that pushed me in a way. My quote is " Fearlessly pursue what sets your soul on fire." I can't count how many times I have scribbled this after a long streak of homework or repeated it in my head. I am passionate about my major and this keeps me going.
I hope these five things help you kill your semester. Good luck!
