Have you been told that you were an awkward third wheel to be around? Look no further! We've all been where you are now. You have our sympathy. Being a third wheel can be super awkward and uncomfortable for you and the couple that you're third-wheeling with. Here are some tips on how to be the best third wheel.
1. Go everywhere with them.
I mean everywhere. You're helping to monitor the couple, which is never a bad thing. The next time Rachel says that she can't go out for lunch with you because Danny is taking her to the movies, respond with "Oh my gosh, I totally forgot! What movie are we seeing? Silly me, thanks for the reminder!" Rachel will definitely be excited to see the movies with you and Danny, of course. Alone time? What's that?
2. Join the arguments.
If Rachel and Danny are fighting, join the arguments! No one needs to be left out. Mention how upset you are that they only care about what's going on between the two of them, rather than the three of you -- how selfish of them.
3. Snuggle with them.
When Rachel and Danny are trying to go to bed, sleep in between them. What's better than bonding with your two best friends? You're going to be warmer anyway.
4. Couple costumes? More like trio costumes.
Your two friends have a date party, and they want to coordinate their outfits. Complain about how they're making you feel left out and that you want to coordinate your outfit with them as well- they won't mind!
5. Make a GroupMe for the three of you.
That way you can text Danny and Rachel 24/7, all at once. Communication is key, in all relationships.
I personally am *almost* always the third wheel. Usually. It's not a bad thing being the third wheel, although it might seem like it. You might feel slightly left out, since you're the only one who's single. Being the only single person in your friend group can be awkward, but at the same time, you can get many benefits. For example, your friends might invite you for their plans because they feel bad for you. But you could go to freakin' Seaworld with them -- who could say no to that? Or a trip to Vegas? Take me! Your friends might have other single friends that they could introduce you to -- and since you're the only one single in your group, you get dibs on whatever guy/girl that appears. When you're third-wheeling, you're technically a part of that relationship. It's a relationship between the three of you, not the two of them. You're included, whether they like it or not, and you just happen to be stringing along with them. These are the positives of being a third wheel, and you should embrace it!
*Note*
Just kidding ... these are all actually possible ways to end friendships.
