The new year is coming, and with it comes an overwhelming sense of pressure to be a better person. Even if you already think you're the sh*t and can't get any better, I promise you that you can. But keep in mind you don't have to only work on outwardly things. Make this new year about bettering yourself on the inside.

1. To quote nearly every youtuber and blogger ever, "DRINK MORE WATER! I cannot stress this enough!"

It's cliche, I know, but water really is important. This year I actually went a few months trying to drink nothing but water and it helped clear up the acne I had, I lost a few pounds, and I honestly just felt better in general. It was very hard, and a caved on it pretty much every weekend, but even when that was the case I saw effects. #Stay hydr8ed!!

2. Set up a normal sleep schedule.

There's a new Iphone feature that can help you track your sleep and manage a normal sleep schedule, if you have an Iphone definitely check it out. But we're told time and time again how important sleeping regularly, and this is just a reminder that people don't say that to mess with you. Sleep is actually important.

3. Start Meditating.

Meditating is fantastic for getting to know yourself and keeping yourself balanced. It isn't stupid hippy crap, it's actually helpful which is why people do it. This new year, find your damn zen and relax a little bit. Especially to my fellow college students, inhale, exhale, free your mind. If you want to spice it up a little, try crystal meditation, it's even more zen, I swear.

4. Practice your time management skills.

Invest in a desk calendar as well as a planner, start writing out your assignments as well as their due dates. The visual representation of what has to be done and when will help you better manage the tasks. Also, if you tend to procrastinate, it will help you see how much procrastinating you can do. But,

5. Stop Procrastinating.

If you suffer from the same issue I do, this sounds impossible. It's hard and you're going to keep putting it off, but take into consideration how much better you could be doing if you put more time and effort into your tasks. It may not seem like a problem right now, but the more you procrastinate the more the issue will effect you. Try to nip it in the butt now, don't put it off until the new year.

There are so many things you can do to better yourself, which is all your going to hear about for the next few weeks because of the new year coming around. Do whatever you feel is manageable and whatever you think will benefit you and the people around you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
