Finals week is upon us. The week of pure stress, studying and living in the library. Saying finals are stressful is an understatement. The last week of the semester takes a toll on students, so here are a few ways to destress and stay sane.
1. Manage your time.
Like many other college students, this isn’t my best skill. Procrastination is my middle name. However, when it comes to finals week do not let poor time management get the best of you. Do not put off studying for your exam or that ten-page research paper for the night before. Start studying a little every day, you will thank yourself later.
2. Get your sleep.
Getting your full eight hours is very important, especially during finals week. All-nighters may be tempting when trying to cramp every piece of information you have learned over the past 4 months into one night, but it’s very unhealthy.
3. Exercise.
Burn those calories. Go for a run, walk, bike ride outside and enjoy nature. Exercise is an outlet to just zone out from your everyday life. Sometimes a little sweat is all you need to clear your head.
4. Make time for yourself.
Whether you this means taking a nap or binge watching Netflix, make time to do something that makes you happy. Create time in your schedule to do something that takes your mind off finals. Making “me time” will be the one thing that keeps you sane.
5. Remember that grades are not everything.
Yes, grades are important, but if you do poorly on a final it is not the end of the world. You will not fail college or never get your dream job because you did bad on one final. It is important to remember grades do not define who you are.
