Every single person has their fair share of daily struggles. Some of us more than others, but we all have the power to improve our daily outcome. It can be a very simple action that can improve your day tremendously. If you have the power to change the outcome of anything in a positive way, why not do so?

1. Wake up earlier.

Hearing that first alarm go off really sucks. The second alarm isn't AS bad. By the third alarm, you're over it and just ready to get up just so you don't have to hear that annoying blaring alarm anymore. If we just set that first alarm a little bit sooner it can make all the difference in your day. Being on time means no speeding to work which means your chances of a speeding ticket decrease significantly. We all know a speeding ticket is the ultimate day-ruiner. Waking up earlier also means not having to speed walk to class causing yourself to be a huge sweaty mess when you show up for class. Being behind schedule or over sleeping can really negatively impact your whole day, and no one wants that.

2. Be prepared

This one kind of goes along with number 1. If you just can't get yourself to wake up a few minutes earlier to be on top of your game, get yourself prepared as much as possible the night before. Set out your clothes, check the weather forecast for the next day, and prep your meals.

3. Devote Time out of your day to being technology and stress-free.

Everyone is so caught up in their phones and the noise of everyday life we forget what it is like to have internal and thoughtless silence. Having 30 minutes to an hour of just peace and quiet gives you time to gather thoughts, reflect, pray, or whatever it is you do. This seems so simple, but it can make a huge difference in your mood for the day.

4. Engage in some kind of physical activity.

For some people this means waking up early and hitting the gym, but for some people it means just taking a walk during your lunch break or break between classes. This can be the perfect opportunity to try out number 3.

5. Be good to your body and your body will be good to you.

What you eat can make or break your whole day. Be cautious of overeating, because that is never enjoyable. With that being said, don't under eat, because you'll feel weak and no one likes that either. Find your balanced diet and commit to it. Everyone is happier and healthier when they eat right.

6. Actually, try to learn something.

Make the best of class, work, or whatever you may do. If you don't go to class, read a book or listen to an informative podcast. There's a lot out there to learn about, so take as much in as you can. Especially in times like these, it's important to be educated. You will feel so much better when you can engage in the intelligent conversations you may be involved in throughout the day and you'll feel even better if you can use your new found knowledge to make a positive impact.

7. Pay it forward.

Hold the door open for someone, pay for someone's coffee, or just give someone a simple compliment. This gives you the chance to feel good while also making someone else feel even better. It feels good to be nice and I can promise you your day will be better because of it.

8. Make your bed BEFORE you leave for the day.

This sounds so incredibly silly, but if you really think about it it's a huge mood booster for when you come home for the night. There's no better feeling than coming home to a clean room and a nicely made bed. This is a simple way to feel accomplished and happy with yourself.

Some of the smallest choices can make the biggest impact. We all deserve to live happy and enjoyable days, so let's do everything in our power to make sure it happens.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
