Here it is. The moment of truth. And look, I get it completely. I don't think people are aware of their own confidence. But who really is? You only ever hear about how to be more confident, but not why you should know how confident you are. To me, confidence plays a lot into everyday life. This article is not scientifically proven to work on self-confidence, but if I knew how, I would write about it. I don't think people are aware of their own confidence.
For an example, we all wish we had something other people have. This is called jealously. And hey, I can fully admit I get jealous, because I am just as bad at it as the typical teenager. We all want longer healthier hair and to forever be acne-free. But let's be realistic: that's impossible. We all dream of things we want to change about ourselves but can't. Here are some idea's that I came up with that have helped me throughout this past summer and I hope you find them just as useful as I have.
1. Stop Comparing. Stay focused on you.
Social media gets me at my worst sometimes. You swipe through Instagram, Snapchat, or Twitter and you come across pages that have girls who seem to have it all. Their lives are all what they seem to be. I would compare my life to theirs and looked at things I could have changed about myself. That's where I messed up. Not only was I comparing myself to others, but I became more unaware of how low I was feeling on a personal note.
2. Relax. Go with the flow and limit stress.
Look through your calendar. Now find sometime for yourself. If you are anything like me, there is no free time. Take a couple seconds, minutes, or if you are that dedicated, take hours and find some things you can easily take out to find time for yourself.
Remember last summer where you were laying out by the pool and did not have a care in the world what you had planned the next day? Yeah, you need to treat yourself to feel like that more.
3. Love yourself, you are a GIFT. Nothing would be the same if you didn't exist.
You owe yourself the love that you so freely give to other people. It's important to work on being in love with the person you see in the mirror. A woman who does not know her worth will settle for less than she deserves.
4. Be positive and look for the good in every situation.
You may not be able to control every situation and its outcome, but you can control your attitude and how you deal with it. Throughout high school, this was a big factor and still plays a huge role in college. A negative mind will never give you a positive life. Look for something positive in each day, even if some days you have to look a little harder. Trust me, it's worth it.
5. Do what you love. Life is too short to waste your time doing anything otherwise.
I found that if I dress to impress, then I am more likely to feel better about myself.
