Everyone has a hobby they love to do. Some play sports, some collect things such as baseball cards, and some play video games all of these are pretty main stream and normal hobbies. I happened to find the boyfriend that loves to Civil War Reenact. It involves long weekends of him going to different states and portraying people that fought in the Civil War. It’s different and people will ask you all the time how he got involved in such a hobby, and your only answer to them is “I do not know, but he loves to do it.” Here are the top 6 way you know your Boyfriend is obsessed with Civil War reenacting:

  1. You walk in on him sewing his own cloths To most people this would sound like a great life skill but when he making 19th century clothing that can only be worn at reenactments you start to question whether this is a good thing or just weird. Who is willing to wear a wool uniform in the dead of summer? Plus the price of wool is outrageous.
  2. When you cannot watch a historical movie with Him It is movie night, you decide to let him pick out the movie and to your surprise (not really) he picks history based movie to watch. You think it’s going to be a quite evening of enjoying the movie, eating snacks, and cuddling when not even five minutes into the movie he is yelling at the inaccuracies like it is a sports game. He is nitpicking the uniforms, and saying “that would have never happen”.
  3. When he comes back from an event and he smells like campfire Yes everyone loves the smell of a campfire, but not every single weekend. Along with the campfire smell comes a strong sent of sweat and sulfur, because he cannot shower at the events.
  4. When he talks about accessorizing himself. You would think there would be one generic kind of uniform but turns out there is a uniform for every unit his portraying. He talks with friends about what looks good on him and what hat goes better with each uniform, and you would like to join but you have no clue what to even say because no one has worn these types of outfits since the 1860s.
  5. When winter starts the withdrawal symptoms also start All he can is look at photos from past reenactment and talk about past events he went too. The non-stop civil war movies will also start around this time and do not be surprised if you walk in on him crying about how much he misses going to events, and all you can think is “it’s only been a month since his last event”.
  6. When He tries to explain to you what he does and you have no clue what he is talking about. You do your best to try and listen to learn about what he does because if he didn’t love it so much he probably wouldn’t talk about 24/7. Sometimes all you can do is node your head and try to listen to what he is saying, even know you’re asking yourself, “Wait what does that even mean?”

So my boyfriend might have one of the most out of the ordinary hobbies ever but if he didn’t civil war reenact I truly believe he wouldn’t be the person he is today.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
