September is here! I’m excited about September for a lot of reasons. For one, it means that fall is around the corner, and when you live in Alabama you LONG for the days of sweaters, scarves, leggings and combat boots (unless you love summer which is like, why?). I also love September because it’s the start of the fall TV season, yay! Now, I’m not big on television (I’d rather be reading or writing a good book), but there are a few shows that I am emotionally invested in. I don’t just watch TV; that’s right, I am a fangirl. I’m one of those wacky people who will binge watch an entire season of a show on Netflix just to get caught up. You can also find me sitting with my wine and popcorn screaming at my TV. You can also expect to see my twitter and tumblr filled with retweets, reblogs and lots of angry/happy posts and tons of emoji’s. To celebrate the return of Fall TV, here are 5 shows I can’t wait to see!
1. Once Upon a Time
I have to say that I’m still very, very bitter about the show’s 5th season. So many terrible things happened in Season 5, but there were some good moments, though they were far and few between. I’ve seriously debated on whether or not I’d watch Season 6 after how much I rolled my eyes, screamed at my TV, and expressed my deep hatred for Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. However, my loyalty to the Evil Queen (and Lana Parrilla) won out in the end. I’m all here for the double dose of Regina this coming season; you can never have too much Regina. So I’ll be watching, reluctantly. Though I won’t be as enthusiastic and I’ll forever be bitter about the unnecessary and cruel death of Robin Hood #BitterPartyofOne
2. Empire
I love this show for a ton of reasons, though I’m mostly impressed with the way Lee Daniels has been addressing problems in the Black community like mental illness and homophobia (I’m looking at you Luscious Lyon). Oh, and the music, we can’t forget about the music! I’m super excited to see who’ll be making guest appearances this season. I heard Mariah Carey and Phylicia Rashad were scheduled to guest star. But my biggest question is: who the heck fell off the roof!? Please dear God don’t let it be Rhonda, not without her telling everybody that Anika is responsible for her and Andre’s baby dying!
3. Scandal
I may be officially done with Grey’s Anatomy (well, sorta kinda) but I’m still very much #TeamShondaLand. I’m a loyalist when it comes to my TV shows, so I’m all here for TGIT related goodness. I’ve been pretty meh about Scandal these last few seasons; I’ve grown quite tired of seeing Olivia Pope go between being all about Fitz to madly in love with Jake. This past season did leave me with some OMG moments, like the fact that ‘Liv aborted Fitz’s baby, though his response was quite the let down. I’m hoping that Season 6 brings me all the heat and tons more of Mellie Grant and the crazy Papa Pope. Too bad I have to wait until January 2017 to see what happens since you know, Kerry Washington is having a baby and all…
4. How to Get Away With Murder
I saw a 30 second promo for the upcoming season on Facebook the other day and I flipped out! I absolutely LOVE Viola Davis as Annalise Keating. This show keeps you on your toes with the crazy plot twists that you almost never see coming. So much happened last season; Annalise got shot, we found out that Wes and Annalise have history, Wes’ father was some rich White guy who’s now dead, they FINALLY killed prosecuting attorney Emily Sinclair (she HAD to go!), we found out Annalise was Bisexual (was I the only person who was rooting for her and Eve to be together?). I’m super excited to see how Annalise and the Keating 5 manage to deal with everything that will be thrown at them this season. Also, Mary J Blige will be guest staring…I am so here for it!
5. Nashville
This show will forever hold a special place in my heart because I absolutely LOVE Connie Britton (Tami Taylor forever!). Nashville is close to my heart because it’s a show about life down South and Country music, which I happen to be a fan of. I’m an even bigger fan of Rayna Jaymes and co. I was so bummed out when I learned that the show was cancelled by ABC, especially with the way the season ended, leaving Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) fate up in the air as we last heard that her plane was in distress after she left the Oscars to be with Avery. Luckily for me all the other Nashville lovers, the show was picked up by CMT and is set to air in January and will be available on Hulu. The scary part is? Rumor has it that Connie Britton has only signed on to do 10 episodes, even though the show was green lighted for a full 22 episodes.
Noooo!
