Being away from school since mid-March has put people, I included, into an unmotivated slump that must be hurdled before schools start reopening in the next few weeks.
As the back-to-school season has begun and students from all age groups prepare for what is sure to be a school year like no other, it is time to get back into the routine of things, such as maintaining a stable sleep schedule, being more organized and efficient with time, and more.
Below, I listed out just some of my tips for those that are needing a boost to get things in gear before the first bell rings.
1. Establish a sleep schedule
Take it from me, going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day truly does affect one's productivity and motivation for the day. Start getting yourself into the routine of going to bed and waking up at the times that you believe will be most beneficial for you throughout the upcoming school year. Starting this sleep schedule now will enable your body to get used to getting tired and feeling energized at the appropriate times.
2. Watch back-to-school Youtube videos
I don't know about you, but something I look forward to every year is watching my favorite YouTubers show off all of the school supplies they got and share their best back-to-school tips. Watching these types of videos will allow you to see where to find trendy school supplies and hear some valuable tips on how to prepare for whatever year of school you are about to be in.
3. Ask if there is any paperwork or classwork that you need to work on before classes begin
Some teachers and professors have assignments or paperwork that they want to be completed prior to the first day of classes. Contact your teachers and ask if there is anything you need to work on or start preparing for right now. Doing so will also get you back into the routine of getting school-related stuff done in a timely manner.
4. Complete your Summer bucket list now
With this summer being longer than any summer we have had throughout our school years, many have been determined to accomplish goals that will help them be the best version of themselves this school year. Whether you've been wanting to eat healthier, focus on self-care more, build new friendships, or grow as a leader, there is still time to achieve those dreams. There is no better way to approach a school year than prioritizing improving yourself and making the most of every opportunity. Work on completing your summer bucket list now so then you will have time to focus on and prepare for the school year before it begins.
5. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade
Though this school year is bound to be full of uncertainty and changes, it can still be the best year yet. Accept that fact now so then you will be able to not dwell on it as much later. Think about and prepare yourself for what this school year may hold. Embrace the uniqueness of this school year and still push yourself to leap towards every opportunity that you will be offered. Though there will be restrictions like wearing masks and being socially distant, there won't be any restrictions on the type of friendships you can develop, organizations that can impact your life, and memories that you can cherish. Don't let this school year's changes defeat you; face them head-on and allow them to strengthen and challenge you.
Wishing you all the safest and best school year yet.
