5 Tips For Dating In College
Mackenzie Warren

When you are starting college, a few things happen. You are either in a relationship already, you have all intentions of finding the love of your life, or you want to just go out with your friends and live the single life. All of these choices are acceptable, however it won't end up how you want it. I don't mean that in a negative way either. I came up with 5 questions I ask myself when dating someone or even talking to someone (I can be a little precarious... or crazy).

1. Is this person someone I can have an actual conversation with?

This may seem stupid to some people, but is it really? I know I have talked to plenty of people I thought I was interested in, but the only thing I was interested in was the fact that they were attractive. Cuteness can take over the female mind, and we can easily be blinded by reality when someone gives us a great big smile and a wink. Come one girls, you know it's true. But, how far is that going to get you in a relationship? If you try and have a conversation with someone and it just fails miserably, you just feel utterly annoyed. So ask yourself, if having a conversation with them is manageable..

2.Is this someone who is going to encourage me rather than make a bad influence?

Time and time again, I got involved with people who would just bring me down. I would have all these dreams and ambitions, but no one to support it. They would say things like, "Mackenzie, why don't you think realistically? Why don't you come down from the clouds?" which is very disheartening, so why get involved with someone like that? Everyone deserves to find someone who would make them want to do great things, and stand by their side as they do them. Don't waste your time on silly boys who won't even care about what you do, and what you want to do.

3. Is this someone I can see myself being with for a while?

I might be the odd duck, but when I'm looking for someone to date, I want to be with someone who I can be with for a while. I'm not about wasting my time talking to someone and getting to know someone who's only going to be around for a month or so. I want someone I am going to be with long term. In college a lot of people are consumed with the idea of hooking up or just having someone there for a few months. So think about it, are you going to want to go through heat break while in college or find someone who makes you happy and wants to actually be with you?

4. Is this person one who makes me laugh and enjoy life?

Why, just why would you waste your time on someone who you can keep a straight face with? You need to be with someone who can make you laugh at absolutely nothing, and honestly when you're in college and stressed out to the max, laughing is your best medicine. You need that person who can ease your mind very easily. You'll keep yourself sane and it'll make the other person feel accomplished and like they did good. So, laugh like a hyena.

5. Is this person who makes me truly happy?

I beg you not to get involved with someone who doesn't make you happy. You won't have as good a time in college like you deserve. College is the best time of your life, don't let that fail by being with someone who makes you unhappy. Live life to the fullest with the person who pushes you to make your dreams come true in the best way!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
