As move in day approaches and the excitement of college sets in, many "firsts" will come along with new time in your life. A new school, meeting tons of new people and of course, new memories. With all the excitement of college, it can begin to become overwhelming; here are 5 tips that can make your busy schedule a little less stressful!

1. Use A Planner

I know, we thought we ditched these in high school but don't worry, this do not look like everyone else's and they aren't for bathroom passes either. Using a planner is a great way to stay organized and to keep your classes prioritized. Your professors aren't always going to remind you a hundred times about projects, quizzes and exams; writing all your important dates down will make your crazy schedule a little easier.

2. Use Your Breaks In Between Classes

If you have a break between your classes, use it! Going to the library or studying in the quad is a really good use of these breaks. You'd be surprised at how much you can get done in a little amount of time.

3. Communicate With Your Professors

This one can be a little more intimidating, but can be very beneficial. If you're struggling in a class or need an extension talk to your professor. Communicating and showing you're trying will go a long way. It really can be the difference between a letter grade at the end of the semester!

4. Take Advantage Of Study Groups

Find a few people in your lectures and group up. Meet up a few times a week before your quizzes and exams and it can really help!

5. Avoid Procrastination! (The irony...)

This ones been fried into your brain since elementary school, right? Well, college is definitely not the place to start. It is easy to put things off but, to reduce the stress break things up and do them it's chunks and again, use that planner!

To all busy college students, I hope this list helps. And good luck with your new adventure!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from.
