More often than not, when you are from New York you are proud to be a New Yorker because honestly, why wouldn't you be? Usually people not from New York do not understand that New York is more than just a city we live in. It's a lifestyle. Here are 10 times when you knew you were from New York:
1. Our Accents: New Yorkers are commonly associated with their unrecognizable accents. I seriously wish I had a dollar for every time someone asked me to say: water, coffee or mozzarella.
2. New Yorkers are always rushing somewhere: I didn't realize until I left New York how fast of a walker I actually was. To be honest, I'm still not sure why people out of New York stroll places, because even when I'm not in a rush, I want to get to where I'm going as quickly as possible.
3. Manners: One of the first times I ever heard, "Have a really great day!" at a convenience store in Pennsylvania, I must have looked like I had just seen a ghost. To be honest, it's not that New Yorkers are rude, it's just that we're usually in such a rush to get to where we're going that it's something that we just don't mind overlooking.
4. Food: Lets be honest, New York is known for having some of the best food and eating that getting food anywhere outside of New York is not always easy. This one is for the people who are always in the mood for pizza but don't live in New York year round.
5. Actually the concrete jungle: Besides Central Park, New York isn't exactly booming with nature. The first time I took a road trip with my Mom to the midwest, I actually got out of the car and took a picture because not only were we the only ones on the road, but there was also grass and fields that you could see for miles.
