The Avocado Festival was in full swing this past weekend, and let's just say it was all I avo wanted :-) For anyone who was unaware, there was an extreme shortage of ripe avocados all across the Goleta and Santa Barbara regions for the past three or so weeks- college students, myself included, were depleted of our precious vitamin A (Vitamin Avocado)...until this past weekend! With cash in my wallet, a lack of food in my belly, and an enthusiastic spirit, I set out to devour almost every edible avocado product I could find! Here now are those delicious items:
1. Guacamole
Devilishly divine, it was obvious that the avocados used to make this guacamole were at their peak. The creaminess of the avocados balanced perfectly against the salt in the tortilla chips, and the acidity and spice from the jalapenos made this guacamole not only delicious but a downright spiritual experience.
2. Tamale with avocado salsa
3. Avocado fries
Upon walking into a small grocery store, I discovered saran-wrapped cubes of avocado-fudge-y goodness. Probably the moistest brownie I have ever tried, and to my surprise, not overly sweet! Everyone go out and try an avocado brownie now!!
The avocado festival was a dream, nay... a spiritual experience. Leaving with a big bag of avocados soon to be ripened, a fist in the air, and a stereo on my shoulder (okay maybe not), but I definitely left victorious!
