5 Things You Know To Be True If You Look Like Your Mom

If you look like your mom, you already know the comments you’re going to get while you’re out in public. You already have the answers memorized. It’s only a matter of time before a person stops you to tell you one of these five comments.

    1. “Is that your mother? Oh, I knew it!”

This is probably the most common. My mom and I are obviously related, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. At first, I used to blush and do an awkward laugh. Now, I just look at her and laugh, because we’ve heard it all before.

    2. “Is that your sister?”

This usually comes from the creepy men that try to hit on my mom. We’ll be out at lunch and the waiter swears we have to be sisters, when it’s obvious she is my mother. They say it with a smile and a wink as we both shake our heads and crack up as soon as he walks away. Get another pick up line, dude.

    3. “You’re going to look great when you're older!”

Luckily, my family has aged very well. My mom, grandma and great grandma look so good for their age. When people see me and my mom together, they always say I’ll age so well. While I like this comment, I think my mom likes it even more.

    4. “Is this you?”

Facebook now can automatically know who you are without you even having to type in your name or someone else’s. With this new feature also comes frustration when Facebook decides to tag my mom in a picture instead of me. Sorry Facebook, I don’t think my mom is out on a Saturday afternoon at a large parking lot party while away at college, even though she might want to be.

    5. “You’re so lucky!”

Even though some of the comments may get old and may be super creepy, I’m glad I look like my mom. We may have different interests and argue a lot, but I’m glad I have the looks I do. She was prom queen. That must mean something, right?!

While all these comments are bound to come up any time, my mom and I are both prepared. She's almost like the twin I never had, but much wiser and someone I wouldn't trade for the world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
